PSW505, DSW500, or PB10 woofer?
Hello polkers.
I have been reading through threads regarding the PSW505 and just wanted a little extra input for my situation.
I have a large room that is 12x27, with a kitchen attached near the rear of the room, so its a very large space. My current set up is two Monitor 70's for the fronts, CS2 center, Monitor 60's for the rears.
I would like to add a subwoofer and have been looking at the PSW505, DSW500, and PB10 from SVS. I really enjoy some good window rattling so I feel that the DSW500 might not be for me. Also, price is a consideration as I live in Canada. Currently these are the prices I can get:
PSW505: 400$ off ebay (including shipping duties, taxes, etc.)
DSW500: 440$ from Visions after taxes (http://www.visions.ca/Catalogue/Category/Details.aspx?categoryId=162&productId=4927)
PB10: 670$ after shipping and taxes.
The PB10 is stretching my budget on this one....any thoughts? I would say my usage is likely about 70-30 HT/Music.

Any advice guys? I'm going to Visions today to check out the DSW500 and the PSW505 (if they have it on display), but I won't be able to try out the SVS sub as the only distributor in Canada is way out in Ontario.2 x Monitor 70's

Thanks for the responses guys! Mystik, would you take the HSU over the PSW505 if they came out to be the same price? And xcapri, will the DSW500 be able to fill up the type of room I'm in adequately? I can tolerate not so refined sound coming from my sub so long as the room is properly filled.2 x Monitor 70's

That is to the continental US, I don't think it includes Canada.
They don't seem to ship to Canada, but I just get around that by using a freight forwarder. Thats my plan with the PSW505 since the local visions store is asking over 700$ for one hahaha. Its just absurd...I can get one for 280$ on ebay, then pay 100$ for shipping to Canada through USPS (avoids duties, taxes, brokerage fees).2 x Monitor 70's

I have only heard the PSW505 at my local frys, but I actually had an STF-2 for about a month. I would most certainly get the HSU over the Polk.
Call the guys at HSU....they're very hands on and will work with you. Same with the guys from SVS for that matter. My System Showcase!

Well I pulled the trigger on the DSW500 last night just before the store closed. I should be able to pick it up around Tuesday, and I'll demo it then. If I'm happy with the results I will likely keep it, but if I feel its lacking a bit I might spring for the STF-2! Thanks so much for all your advice!2 x Monitor 70's

Hmm just a quick question on setup....I ran 12 gauge wire for my two Monitor 70 fronts, and 16 gauge for my center. I had to rip up all the baseboards and just barely got all the cabling squeezed in there, and even then my baseboards don't like too hot anymore I could care less though.
Regardless, I really won't have an option to put my sub at the front of my room. I have all my equipment in a cabinet at the back of the room (the front wall is dominated by the projector screen). Will I be sacrificing quality or anything else by placing my sub at the back of the room? The couch in this room is equidistant from the front and back of the room. From what I've read this shouldn't be an issue, however the sub will likely be placed in a corner (I can move it out of the corner if need be, but that is by far the most convenient spot).
It would sit about 6 inches on two sides from the rear wall and the left wall. The DSW is down firing, so this shouldn't be a problem should it?2 x Monitor 70's

Brand new here and I've been looking at the 505 also. How does it compare to the PSW125 and are either available anywhere in cherry? All I can find in cherry is the 10. At $100 cheaper is it worth the trade off in performance? I'm combining the sub with a CS20 and a pair of Tsi500's. Speaking of value, how do the Tsi 400's compare to the 500"s? Thanks.

Thanks a lot. I posted a receiver set up question in a new thread but I do have on the way a pair of 70's, a C2, and a 505, all thanks to this thread and all the great info. Can't wait. Thanks again. At the moment my wife doesn't quite love ya'll as much as I do Ha.
