Many of neweggs Polks are discontinued series, hence the discounts. They carry the FULL Polk warranty though and ARE NOT refurbished but in the box NEW!

what about the monitor series? are those discontinued? i know those are one of neweggs biggest items from polk. i hope they arent.

Monitor series was replaced by the TSi series. You shouldn't worry about buying them even though they are discontinued. You can mix the monitor series with the TSi series in a HT environment. The aesthetics will be the biggest mismatch.

that explains why all the tsi series look like better made duplicates of the monitor series.

I bought all my Monitors (70/40/CS2) from Newegg. Great deal w/ like $3 shipping. Got them the next day via UPS.
Just can't beat it... Though, I've fallen in love with the RTi series. Now to start over.
But don't be afraid of Newegg at all for Polk products - absolutely brand new w/ full warranty.11.3 Theater

Anybody have anything to say about getting a speaker package like the Polk Audio RM510 5.1CH High Performance Surround Sound Speaker System which is on sale right now? My brother is getting the new Pioneer VSX-920-K because the Monitor 70/40 system is too large.

This isn't always the case. I have a set of TSi 500's as my surrounds now because they did not sound good at all up front with my CS2. They work well in the back because timbre matching isn't as important with the surrounds as it is with the front 3. Everyone's ears are different, but IMHO it was not a good match at all, YMMV.
