opinion on surround modes

Does anyone use Harman Kardon's Logic 7 surround mode instead of Dolby Pro Logic 2? I am thinking of upgrading to the AVR-510, which still has the Logic 7 but not PL2. I've tried it, but it just sounds different, and was wondering if it would be one of those things that I'd get used to, or just stay annoyed.

Anyone have any experience with the AVR-510? Reliability?

    Sound & Vision just reviewed three AV receivers, including an HK. He really liked their Logic 7 system. Article isn't on the site...

    are you positive the 510 doesn't have DPL2? I am completely positive that the AVR-310 has it, in addition to Logic 7... I would check twice, I dont think you have a problem here, I think you get both

    Looks like it has Pro Logic but not PL2.
    SDA-2a, Anthem Pre-2L, Anthem Amp 1, MF A324 DAC, Rotel RCD1070

    that is so completely odd, I KNOW the AVR-310 has DPL2, I have used it extensively, but yet I cant find where it says the 510 has it

    I have the 510, it does not have PL2 and I don't think any of the x10 models had PL2. Only the x20 or higher models have it.

    I use Logic7 for PS2, TV, and other non DD/DTS sources and it's really nice IMO. It blows away pro logic, not sure about PL2 though. I think you'll get used to it.

    Thanks guys! Strangely enough, I saw a deal on a Denon 1803 I couldn't pass up, so I'm giving my dad my HK and going 6.1!

    Congrats, I started out with an HK and switched to Denon myself and haven't looked back.

    I have the HK 520 and I am selling it on Ebay and it does have PL2 . I am replaceing in with the Pioneer Elite VSX 49 TXi. So my new list of goods are:


    Polk RTi70's Front
    Polk CSi 40 Center
    Polk FXi50's side rear
    Polk FXi30's rear
    PSW 650 Front Sub.
    PSW 202 Rear Sub.
    "New Receiver" Pioneer Elite VSX 49 TXi (Due this Friday)

    Looking at getting a Pioneer Elite plasma TV, And the Pioneer Elite 47 DVD very soon :)
