Upgrade the TT?

As I spend more time in Vinyl land I'm wondering more and more whether to upgrade my TT.
I currently have an old Sony PSX55 with a nice sounding Grado Z1+
It's well maintained, set up correctly, and serves me well.
But, I'll admit that it is not a 'high end' rig to get the best possible sonic performance.
How important is the TT and tonearm compared to the cartridge?
Could I upgrade just the TT/tonearm and keep the Grado and realize a good return on my money?
Or, to take it to the 'next level', should I invest in a whole new setup?
Thanks!

Vinyl playback is a 5-way equation. Cartridge, tonearm, turntable, phono stage, and of course, vinyl quality! They are all important when you get to a certain level, but I feel you should balance the qualities with your budget pretty equally. No sense in having a super high quality cartridge on an average quality turntable.
You might be ready for an upgrade of some sort. Maybe your Grado is due for replacement. Hard to say really. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -
Keep your eyes peeled for a Technics SL1200. Well damped, no belts, built in speed control and not too expensive.
