    What do you WANT?
Good point :p Also how much you wanna spend? I have several mid line or bottom of the line receivers and intergrated amps available that could be had reasonably.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

sorry I should give a few hints.

We are adding a screened in porch to the back of my house, thinking of several pairs of speakers to cover the large area (14 x 48) to be able to use lower volume setting and cover the whole area. Thinking 4 pairs of speakers.

A strong 2 channel would work.

Thinking I might wire for my projector and have the ability to have an outdoor surround, so a HT would work also.

Seeing what might be out there.

Budget is from free to more, just depends on what you got, but not interested in anything over 3-400.00

    Let me know, thanks

marantz amps have a good rep for being "strong" so do denon and onkyo. the one i have for sale will bench 150wpc in stereo mode. it also has dolby pro logic IIx meaning you could get surround sound from 2ch music that would give the ability to drive all 7 speakers and significantly reduce the stereo sweetspot you would get attempting to cover a large area. one small cosmetic defect is a scratch on the top of it, but its not to bad, ill post some pics later, two of the binding posts on the back arent perfectly straight either but its not like they are broken or badly bent, ill also take some pictures of it (they have been that way since i got it but i didnt really care about it because it wasnt broken, was more of a cosmetic defect) if you wanted to fill the area with two channel sound and not use pro-logic IIx it has the ability to drive 2 separate pairs of loudspeakers in 2ch mode so you could place two speakers in the front of the area and two in the back. of course it can handle all of your regular surround processing duties, supports dolby digital, 24/96 DTS, and PCM, via optical or coaxial input, there is no hdmi inputs. audio inputs include analog 7.1ch in, 3 coaxial inputs, 3 optical inputs, all of which can be assigned to the input selector of your choice. has 7 stereo inputs which are pre-assigned to different selector switches, and 7.1 pre-amplifier outputs DSP modes are Dolby Pro Logic/II/IIx Movie, Music, and Game mode, DTS Neo:6 music and cinema modes, SRS Circle Surround Cinema, Music and Mono modes and Virtual mode (virtualized surround sound from 2 speakers) 8 A/V switching selectors. VCR pass through, Multi out mode for powering a second zone (room) Variable sub crossover from 80hz-120hz with subwoofer out RCA connector. 4 S-video in's 1 out, 2 component in's 1 out, 4 composite in's 2 out, offers video converting meaning that no matter what type of video input you use, it will come out of all the outputs (component in comes out of composite out as well for example)

    does have an AM/FM tuner.

well thats all of the specs i can think of for now, im sure i mistakenly left something out so if you have question please ask, unfortunatley since marantz does not still make this model they dont have spec sheets for it so i had to type up all i could think of.

will also get pics tonight as long as you dont mind that i have a set of speakers hooked into it atm showing up in the pic. (hey it proves it works :D)
i also have no clue what to price this thing at, no less then 200 though as this thing retailed at like 750.

oh and it has all discrete amplifiers.

Well, he's at 105 now and was at 100 when he offered it to Hoosier....who also seems interested. It would have been cooler to list it in the Flea Market but I'm not losing sleep over this. Thanks for the heads-up Keiko.

    Let's move along.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

doesent matter the wattage, marantz has a reputation for loads of headroom, cant go wrong with them. when i can grab 150wpc out of a 100 rated channel all channels driven, that says something.

    Denon AVR 1906 $150 + shipping

    or

    H/K 7300 $350 + shipping

The Denon is in excellent shape.
The H/K is in good shape with a few bumps and bruises, but nothing too bad.

There is all kinds of stuff out there you could use. Depending on the quality of sound you are looking for, the $400 top end you have for a budget should deliver something pretty good. One thought you might consider is a receiver that has a second zone. Another idea is to get a really nice receiver for your main HT, use the built in amp for one area, and pre outs to another amp for the second area. Just some thoughts.
