Hello all,
I was having a problem getting my 12's to produce lower end.
I picked up a parasound 1500a hoping this would solve the problem. It didn't.
I used my AVR(onkyo 898)to power the upper end. Then I biamped the lower end with the 1500.OMG!!Huge difference.
Thanks everyone for your help. These things do need juice!!

I'm going to try this on my 70s - hopefully the AVR can feed the tweeter enough juice to not burn it out, though. ;)

yes, they sure do. but when you get it right, you know it! here were the different set-ups I went thru until i found the holy grail--very similar to where you ended up.

    1) drove each RTi12 front/main full range with its own sperate NAD C270 in 2 channel mode. ~120W continuous/channel. one channel to LF and other channel to HF. NAD 755 drove the CSi5 center and surrounds only. GOOD

    2) drove each RTi12 front/main full range with its own sperate C270 in bridged/mono mode. ~340W continuous/channel. one channel ran one RTi12. 755 drove the CSi5 center and surrounds only. BETTER

    3) drove the LFs of both front/mains with one C270. drove the HFs of both front/mains with the other C270. 755 drove the CSi5 center and surrounds only. GOOD

    4) drove one front/main LF only with one c270 in bridged/mono mode (340W). drove the other front/main LF with the other C270 bridged. 755 drove the front/mains HFs and drove the CSi5 and surrounds. the 755s continous 5 channel rating is 100w each channel. BEST

when i got to the 4th hook-up just seemed like clarity, headroom and some really full bass just jumped up and smacked me right in the face. and i liked it! Hope you enjoy your rig ...
    Thanks!

I recently did some re-arranging of audio equipment and decided to hook up two Carver TFM-55 amps in mono mode to each of my RTi12 speakers.

These speakers came alive as if they were resurrected from the dead. They really sound great. All this time I have been using one amp for both speakers. Not anymore!:D

How long does it normaly take Polk floor stander's to break in? I have noticed a large difference since I got my Rti8's couple of week's ago. At first there was little to no bass and now I'm beginning to hear the full spectrum. Nice, I like Polk speaker's! John
