Hello,

Looking for my second system for the house. I love my Mythos St system, but was looking for a cleaner look on the second system. I was looking at either the LCi or RTS in-walls. They are quite pricey in comparison to some of the other options, but was wondering if anyone could validate their performance for the price? ***ahem, is Mantis around***

I think the legendary RT1 has an RTS solution in his theater.

I am planning on an 5 x LCi80 system for my HT, because of the LSi type tweeter, mostly, and also the frequency response (on paper at least) when compared to some other solutions. I don't like the idea of a speaker that cuts off at 80Hz, since I just don't find subwoofers entirely convincing in the 40-80Hz range. YMMV.

My logic was that I totally loved the RT55 & CS400 combination for HT, but the tweeter may have been the weakest point (apart from the big size, and WAF). The LC80i seem as though they should do better than that combination on all counts. Then I'll plan for a separate, two speaker tubed/SS hybrid solution for music (in the same room, but with different components).

Unfortunately, I have not implemented this plan yet, so I cannot confirm whether or not it "worked out" in the end.
    Alea jacta est!

check the mythos xtr50's, recently came out, they are less than 2 inches deep, i love my vm20's but the look of these mythos would have been a little sexier with my led. good luck

I thought about the new slim mythos, they are a canidate in the running, but I was looking at getting a different brand and sound for the second system for a little variety.

The LC80i is definitely an LSi all the way, no disappointment there.

I would recommend building or buying an in wall/ceiling enclosure to help stiffen up the sound a bit. YMMV.

If the wall cavity or ceiling is open consider sound absorption batting between the open areas of the studs or joist.

    Great sounding speaker.

That was one of the advantage of the RTS or Def Tech in-walls, they have their built in enclosures to help mitigate that issue. I will have to find a place to audition the the options.

Polk manufactures enclosures for these inwall speaks.

I have looked prior for some specs, mainly a volume number, on building an enclosure and came up empty.
