Good ethics vs Great job

So you find a dream job, work your way up to COO only to find out your owner hasn't been quite honest in regards to food safety systems that were supposed to be in place. Not to go into tons of detail but safe to say its a serious enough problem where if ignored it clear to see one is choosing profit over the general publics safety..................any incidents would be on my shoulder, more than likely resulting in my termination for cause....no whistle blower laws that protects non Gov employees in the area which I work even though we are talking about the publics well being here. Found out about this situation a few weeks ago, consulted legal advice and walked away from 6 figures........State approved my unemployment benefits because I did show good cause for leaving, and they at least sided with me.

Positive side is i will be off for the walleye opener.................have lots of time to spend with my grandson, play with the dogs, and listen to tunes....... already had a offer, being flown to Charlotte next for an interview...........at least I am very lucky to have skills in a area that is one of few rapidly growing despite the state of the nation...

Wishing all a great weekend.......................

Any hint as to the company involved so the rest of us don't eat their products?

You did the noble thing. Was there no way to change things from within?
Enjoy the fishing, and I wish you the very best of luck.

You made the right decision. There are too little people in the world today that truly have a code of ethics. At least by quitting for this reason you are still able to collect unemployment, and you have a clear conscience. Who knows that info could have come out by someone else and like you said you would have been terminated and then not been able to collect unemployment. Doing the right thing always seems to work out for the better in time. never right away but it will.

Whistle blower laws need to be extended to the private sector. Unemployment is such a disservice to the commendable stand you have made. Very sad state of affairs in such instances. Only can hope this leads to better things for you.

Don't believe a word he says!

When he says "show you around" what he really means is "show you around back, where his shed is".

I see you are in Minneapolis... any chance Denny Hecker has anything to do with this? It seems like that F'tard had his slimy paws on just about everything up there.

Hope you find a job soon and congrats on being a fine example for the youngsters in buisness. I've found myself many a times in a similar situation and walked also. I may have been poorer for periods of time, but I sleep like a baby. I just wish more executives in all fields put ethics alittle more higher up than the coin. Must be the age gap,I dunno, but from what I see today,it's all about the coin. Sad really.
