I don't think that he should be allowed to get as far as signing up. With what inevitably gets posted from time to time here, he shouldn't be allowed to be on this site. In fact, I'll even go so far as to say that there should be an 18+ rule put into effect.......

Sid, by all means........stay and make all the ignorant comments that we've come to expect from ya.

Bottom line though......a 10 year old, regardless of their relation to you, shouldn't be allowed to be a member here. There is subject matter and certain postings that aren't appropriate for a kid, and I can't really believe that anyone here would want to show the patience involved in dealing with a kid at that age......just go tell your daddy or somethin......jeez

    Well then, :)

I think this is a sinister plan from good ol sid, Come on why would a 10 year old wanna post on a board with a bunch of older guys??

But what ever, i can see a bunch of meaningless elementary school threads coming our way,

we shall prevail, we will overcome, we will make it through this,

When I was 10 yrs old I was already into audio. I wasn't exactly reading Stereophile at recess, but the periodic trips to Highland Appliance always put me in a frenzy.

No age limit what-so-ever. It's not actually a blood relative anyways. Who knows, in 15 years he may come up with a radical speaker design, or a 200 watt class A tube amp for $150.

Then again you guys are probably right. I've just been trying to work on my karma lately.

    Ok......I'll bite.......

Are you sure? I mean, if I want an opinion from someone who's never actually tested the pieces that I'm asking about but will recommend one over the other and go only off the specs (that in a brilliantly worded opinion 'are ****'), then I suppose that you're the guy I'd ask for "help" from....

I dont' mean to totally discount you, so I'll at least admit that it's fun to watch you be the one that responds to your own posts more than anyone I've ever seen...Where else can ya see a thread that ya start and consists of (as an example) 20 posts, where you make up at least 10 of them....ya......entertaining...

Okay... I don't usually jump in on this type of thing, but I agree that this board is not really the right place for a 10 year old. In fact, I may go so far as to say that it's not the place for a 14 year old... However, you do have to take into account maturity levels... Maybe if your step brother is a bit more mature than you, it'd be okay. However, I doubt that to be true. And that's not to bash on anyone in particular. When I was 10 or 14, I wasn't mature enough to be on a board full of adults, either... And if you're sick of people always ragging on you for whatever, take a look at how you conduct yourself. I found it to be quite useful. And yes, I can speak from experience; I'm 17 and I still remember what it was like ;) .

I say no problem with a 10 year old as long as the parents are OK by it. This club is cleaner than a pg movie and I think it is great to help nurture our children any way we can.

BTW, I can't wait to watch sids temper flare when his younger bro builds a better system... That will be worth reading! :D

Thanks for bringing that point up nadams. I say he picks one effin ID and sticks with it. Granted, he hasn't had any shady deals whatsoever, but that reaks of Wangotango.

Everyone else uses ONE id, even when broadcasting from different locations.

Ima' email Micah, and cry like a little **** about it.

What kind of system would a ten year old have? This is pretty typical
    http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F002%5F001%5F012%5F000&product%5Fid=14%2D554

But when I was ten, my "stereo" had detatchable speakers. WOW!!!!!

And you're right. I think I would rate this forum PG-13. If one is under 13, I think that the parents should have to give permission, given the nature of some of the material posted here.

That is how most of the internet works, 13 is the magical number. Part of the internet privacy act or something like that.

When I was 10 I had one of those fold down Sears Silver tone turntables with detachable speakers. By age 11 I had upgraded the speaker wire to make it longer and ended up toasting the amp by hooking up every speaker I could find. I guess my future had been defined by that point. :)

I have an 8 year old that has gone bonkers over audio equipment. Speakers are his big thing right now and he finally won the argument with me that he could handle using my 7b's he really digs the sound. I still would not let him on here with you bunch of raving maniacs though.....just kidding, I will when the time is right, he still has alot to learn about this hobby and I hope that he will enjoy it as much as I have over the years. Its amazing to see just how far we have come just since the 80's when the audio bug bit me in the **** like it has him.

 Ditto, though I think I was more like 13 or 14... Stereo what a concept.

Can remember putting the speakers on the floor, laying down with my head between them and spinning Sgt. Pepper...

Damn thing was my college rig Freshman year.... real chick magnet ;)
