I bought a second TFM-42 to try on my Amazing Plat's.. Two bridged in Mono didn't sound better than one.. so here is the second one for sale...
Probably a 7/10 on the Audiogon scale, looks good, but has some nicks/scratchs on the top front edge and along the top of the amp... Looks and works good besides that.
$425 shipped anywhere in the continental US (paypal preferred and i'll eat the fees)
Thanks!

I'm very tempted by this to run my Rti12's, but concerned about if the 12's with 375w of power will overpower the Csi A6 with just the 140 from the Sc-07. Any thoughts on this? Will the Carver help to tone down the brightness of the 12's? ThanksSony 83A80L TV and Roku Ultra

The Carver will help a bit, but it won't be the magic bullet. What it will do is improve the dynamics of the front, provide better bass and clarity in the mids. It will not overpower the center so long as you run your Audessey/Ypao setup program and recalibrate your setup.
For the brightness, I recommend getting some tubes in the mix via a two channel preamp with HT bypass. I have done this and the results have been spectacular.:D:cool:The Gear... The Carver will Manhandle those 12's, and I mean that in a good way. It won't overpower the center, you probably wont have to rebalance the theater overall as much as you think you might, dynamics will definitly improve with that amp in the mix.
you should snag that thing. I have one (actually a 45, same amp but with analog meters) driving my LSi15's.........the only amp upgrade I am considering is getting the 45 refurbed by Carver (or whatever that company is that is doing that now).
this can be a "last amp you will own" amp, At least in your theater.... though some Carver haters might disagree with that.Living Room 2 Channel -

another note, this is a warm souding amp, it was actually voiced to sound like a Carver Silver 7, which is a tube amp. Probably as warm (i.e. not bright) as you're gonna go without going tubes, and getting beefy tube power for RTi12's in a theater set up would be silly in my eyes
a 2 channel tube pre with HT bypass will help brightness for 2 channel, but not with theater sound (since I am sure a ht bypass signal doesnt touch a tube....could be wrong on that)Living Room 2 Channel -

Was this recently serviced by any chance? I saw some posts on this forum about these units requiring service (I think it was Rita's) assuming they were untouched before, and that would be a cool 350$... so that would push up the "real" price of the unit quite a bit...

Just because it hasnt been serviced recently doesnt mean it wont run for years to come. My suggestion is buy the amp see if you like it, if you do play it till you either need to recap it or you decide your going to keep it forever then do it. If you dont like it resell and get your money back it's a win win as far as im concerned for the money.
REGARDS SNOWWell, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all

Thanks Snow. I would also agree with that logic. I love this amp, part of the reason I bought two. I was tempted to just keep it for some future system... but wanted to focus on one rig for now and let someone else get their ears on one of these..

Sure... But that goes both ways... And I understand that just because it was serviced doesnt mean there wont be an operator error by a newbie that would fry the amp on arrival :-)
In any case, I actually should have clarified that my posting was also to indicate that the price quoted by punk-roc is quite fair according to the linked thread since those "serviced" items are going for 650$ and above since that pretty much includes the cost of servicing...Whether one feels comfortable with "known unknowns" is a matter of personal preference...
Anyways, good luck with the sale and here's a good intentioned bump as well for the post...Fronts: Wharfedale diamond 9.6

If you're asking to buy the amp for $350 shipped I'm going to have to say no.
$390 shipped if more than fair.. shipping this alone will cost about $35-40 most likely..
