Yes the 10s will have more bass than the M-70s but if you REALLY want towers with bass in that series, splurge a bit more and get the Rti-12s or Rti-A9s (the new version). That's where you'll hear SIGNIFICANT differences on the low end with the M-70s. You will need GOOD power, though to get that bass from the 3 x 7" low frequency drivers and massive power handling, the 12s can deliver some nice low end.

Hey, are the Rti A9's a huge improvement over the Monitor 70's?
If the Monitor 70's were compared with a good sub, to the RTi A9's, would it be a wash? Or are the RTi A9's just superior overall, period?
I ask because I have Monitor 70's, but lust for the RTi A9's (almost sounds like I'm not talking about speakers anymore...).

I had monitor 70's for fronts and rears and just bought RTi12's for fronts and sold one set of m70's.I did a side by side compairison right before I sold them. . With my amp the m70's sound great. actually they sounded really great for movies. The RTi12's sound fuller-not as punchy. I need more power than 165 for the 12's as the amp I have is it seems just adequate for the 12's. Best wishes on upgrades.Darryl

the 12's will sound a whole lot better across the whole frequency spectrum. the rti's are far more detailed in the mid range and upper frequencies.

Keep researching - There are some who actually like the Monitor 70s better for music.

I have both of the aforementioned speakers - The Monitor 70s produce much more bass than the RTi10s at a lower volume; however, Rti10s produce better mid and highs at a lower volume. As the volume is increased, the speakers begin to sound quite similar; however, the Monitors begin to lose clarity at a high volume, but the RTi10s do not. Together, the speakers are quite complimentary.

    Hi-
I'm new to this post and I have a question. I have the Polk rm6900 5.1 surround speaker system currently hooked up to my big screen tv, cd player, cassette deck, dvd player and turntable all of which run through a powerful Marantz receiver. I am looking to upgrade the front speakers, especially for playing music, and am trying to decide between the monitor 70's and the rti10's. Keep in mind that the rm6900 system already has a 12" subwoofer so I'm guessing the chatter about the somewhat poor bass on the monitor 70's is irrelevant. I'm able to get the monitor 70's for $50 less per speaker than the rti10's so I'm trying to see if the rti's are going to be worth the $100 difference. Thanks a million for your reply.
