Some pictures of my relatively new BAT VK-3i

OK, I finally have the tubes I want for my BAT VK-3i pre-amp. There are 2 Pope 6V6GT's and 4 Siemens E88CC with the gray shields (1962 and 1963)tubes in it. I tried the Popes and 4 Amperex 1958 D-getter bugle boys in it but I like the tones of the Siemens better, althought the Soundstage of the Amperex tubes was better and the tones were not reduced by much. I just feel the Siemens are a better match with the VK-3i and the rest of my rig. Here are some pictures of the inside and front. I will post some pictures of my whole rig when I take them as I know people (in the past) wanted to see some.

My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Yeah George, I have tried the tubes with and without the dampers on them. With them is better overall. The focus, detail and both high and low end are better. It seems a little tube "jostle" is good though. I need to mess with the placement of the dampers on the tubes to find the best spot. The place they are now is the recommended placement for them, but not necassarily ideal.
The Siemens are very revealing, a lot of detail comes through. I also like the tones you get with them. Very natural sounding tubes without overdoing it.

a great way to break into Hi-Fi tubiness, this one is well reviewed, no wonder why, with one quick look under the hood, it has what it takes, starting with the toroid, BAT remains one of my favorite companies, they only make very good to great gear, stand behind each piece, take good care of the folks who buy the gear, everything good, and in hi-fi land they still make stuff the serious hobbiest can get into.
Congrats.......and of course.....TUBES RULE.
