I got this center with my 15TL. However 3 of the drivers have the backs busted right off. I called polk and they stated that they don't have that driver anymore and so kinda out of luck. I currently have the tweeter and one driver that are still good. Do you guys think I should just maybe see about finding drivers from someone else (like parts express or something) and trying them out? or just like scrap the whole thing? The body is in good condition and so is the grill. Just didn't know really how valuable this thing was.

PS I don't really have a use for it, but was looking at in the fall starting a DIY speaker project so I could maybe use it for something like that? yes/no?

I need the grill for my 350. If you decide not to do anything with these, let me know if you want to sell the grill.

Somone had a Franken-center with the box from a 350 that swore by it for sale in the Flea Market.

Not sure too many people had faith in it.

Too lazy to search for the link. The O's are tied with the Sox.

Earthquake kevlar drivers are apparently the world's most amazing improvement in this center.

I believe that the drivers in the CS250's are the same. Look on ebay or Craigslist.

Gotcha. My stock CS350 is a prefect match for the 1Cs and it would be hard to believe that a generic mw replacement could sound better.

The dust caps are def. different on the 250 and 350. Not sure if that is the only difference or not.

I just pulled one of the drivers from my LSfx. They are MW4851. Is that the same as the ones in a 350?

You might ask Polk if they're interchangeable. They look exactly the same, dust caps and all. Maybe the 4850 is shielded since it's in a center that would be located near a TV...

well last time I called I asked if there was any driver besides the 4850 that could be used in the center itself. They stated no but I'll call again and see.

Yes, It is me you are talking about.

I sold it and in the process of building a
Center Channel out of the drivers from a
    RTA15tl.
I purchased the drivers from earthquake sound, they
were a perfect match for the crossover and they sounded

bingo. got the answer from Polk. They stated its not shielded and that also that driver isn't around anymore.
I'll probably just keep the thing around for awhile and search for the correct drivers. Don't really want to make a frankenspeaker out of it.

So the 4851's will work? If so, keep your eye out for the LSfx's. I got mine here on the FM for $100 shipped. That's 4 drivers and 2 tweeters. Pretty cheap even for parts...

they will work, its just a question of how your using it I guess. like it doesn't have the shielding so putting next to a TV can be a problem, however I still might just part the thing out and sell the box and the grill as I was now thinking of doing a paradigm set up in the other room (studio 20's V4 I'm thinking of going with) so probably won't need this anyways.

That's only a problem if you're still using an old CRT TV. Plasmas, LCD's etc don't need a shielded center. Good luck on whatever you decide to do.
