caps for dual voice coil sub?

i have 2 40uf (+-6%),440v ,1000dc,50/60 hz. what will these do to my sub?

Adding them in series with the voice coils will remove all the bass,so effectively turning your woofer into a midrange. .

I'm not sure what your refering to as "sub capps" but what are you wanting to achieve? -
i know cars have big capps for their subs i just figured these were lying around they might be good on my sub

Ahhh,gothca those big >1 farad caps are meant to be connected to the 12 volt power supply of the amplifier,not to the driver.Your little 40uf jobbies will not have any benificial effect. -
oh ok they are for the amps not the speakers in a car...its all coming clear haha.

Big caps (greater than 1 Farad) help regulate the power supply to the amps under peak loads. They store voltage, that when needed during really heavy bass passages, can be released very fast, thus helping the battery and alternator not have to work so hard and, in theory, the lights not dim with every big bass hit.SDA-1C (full mods)
