    This is raw evil

They had the man tied and bound yet they shot him in the head in front of his two kids and loving wife

My eyes welled up with tears reading this

The things people do for money

May these people burn in hell

I feel bad for this guy and his family. Pure evil like was stated above.

It's because of stuff like this that anything I want to get rid of I just donate or sell & ship. Something like this I would take somewhere to sell it and take a hit on payment to avoid such a situation.

    Rough.

2 people in my office were friends of the family. To make matters worse, they had NO life insurance. So sad.

Very sad. The fix for that kind of robbery is to immediately take a picture of the person on your cell phone and send to another number. Simply explain to the person, you do know know him/her and people have been robbed when posting an ad on CL. If the person is legit, he or she will be cool about the protective measure being taken.

Another thing the seller can do is to ask for a phone number during the initial contact. Hang up and then call back to verify that the number is legit (and recorded via phone company records).

I wouldn't sell from inside my house except to those I have some backround on.

I have always worried about going to look at expensive items which were for sale. They know you have money and often times you have to go inside their house, maybe even down to the basement. Pretty much once you enter their house they can shoot you and claim self defense.

    Very sad story here.

That is absolutely sick. It's amazing that there are people out there who actually do things like this...

I could never, in a million years, imagine myself doing something like this. The idea would never even cross my mind.

    Amazing..

That's the saddest part. What did these people get out of this? Not very much...at black market/pawn shop prices...whatever they took wouldn't be worth much. At most they got away with a few thousand dollars...in exchange for taking a mans life, and tearing a family apart.

    This is truly sick.

A lot of the time in these situations, the robbers/criminals are so pumped up on adrenaline that they shoot people as a nervous reflex, without even really meaning to.

Don't take me wrong...that in no way justifies it...these people deserve the death penalty IMO.

I have started to only post to Craigslist via my work email, because one time a guy was able to pull up my address via home email address, which kind of freaked me out. He was a decent guy, but the idea still freaked me out.

I also only meet people at work now, due it is a secure area (airport). I really do not want strangers knowing where I live anymore...you never know.

I do alot of craigslist buying and selling and usually do it at my local starbucks or theirs. Alot less hassle and worry and puts both of us at ease. That this happened in my neck of the woods (live in Dupont) really cuts too close :(

It doesn't matter if it's expensive or not. Also, they could just go ring a doorbell
with a clipboard, or hang out by the driveway at night.
Anyone that want's to rob you will. Don't think a few witnesses
are going to slow them down much. Welcome to modern America.
ATM"S, expensive cars, stuff for sale, it all draws them.
It's just odd that CL was their target. Most of the time they'd pawn
the computer 1st, then go out and stick people up.
