Hello

I was looking at a pair of speakers on craigs list that the owner describes as Model 7B. I asked if they might be monitor7's because the picture even looks like monitor7's but he replied Model 7B. The vintage page of Polk site doesn't list a Model 7B so I was wondering if someone can tell me what this speaker actually is.

Thanks

thanks for the reply. The poster of the ad also replied by looking at original manual "Polk Audio Model 7 Studio Monitor System". The small tag on the back starts with 7B.

Anyone have thoughts to what a pair in excellent condition, original owner w/ stands should go for? He is asking $150 and that sounds reasonable to me but I have no idea what vintage gear should go for

I think you would be fair to give $100 -- or find some monitor 10s or RTA11s for $150

just my 730 cents an hours worth

If those are in excellent shape with Peerless tweeters and the original stands, then that is a fair price. But always try to get them for less, it cant hurt.
Most of them only hear how loud it sounds, and the rest of us hear everything else -

Especially if they're local, and you don't have to deal with the hassle of shipping them.

I snagged mine of CL for $50 and they were in excellent condition from the original owner (original sales receipt from the 1980's included). Stand were also included and the stands are identical to the original ones, but I was informed by his wife that he actually made them.

So perhaps I just got a very good deal. Still, I'd say 100 - 150 not bad at all because they sound quite nice and had the seller been asking $100 or so, I would still bought em. ;)

I got my Peerless 7A's at a local auction house for $20. That's what the bidding started at, and no one bid against me. They included the original boxes, and are in great shape overall.

They didn't have the stands, but I managed to track down a pair of original stands for $35 IIRC. So, I actually paid more for the stands than I did for the speakers themselves.

Both my deal, and the deal you mentioned were very good deals though.

They're definitely worth $100-150 though. Especially if they're in good shape, and have original stands and/or boxes.

Being local helps a lot too. If you found a non-local pair at a better price, odds are you'd be back in the $150 range after shipping.

With a local sale, you've got the comfort of being able to go and see and test the speakers before you buy them...plus you don't have to worry about them being manhandled by a shipping company.

oh boy , the seller just dropped to $100. Unfortunately my Martin Dynamo wont power on this morning and I am thinking my money is going into fixing it first. Tomorrow's plan is to replace the fuse which looks perfectly fine but one can only hope.

For $100, I'd snag them! You'd be VERY hard pressed to find a better sounding pair of 2 channel speakers for that price.

I like the 7's more than the 10's. I had both.
