I'm not particularly fond of monster but i got an email from amazon for this unit
http://www.amazon.com/Monster-MKIII-8-Outlet-Power-Center/dp/tech-data/B000PCVF3E/ref=de_a_smtd
and was wondering if it was decent for the price or should i look into something else?
If i should get something else what do you suggest and i would want to keep the price around the same as the monster unit

I have one like it, it doesn't have the meters on it and it works. Wouldn't say its the best thing in the world but it does its job. I haven't compared it to other products but the only reason why I bought it was for the surge protection feature really.

There are some Panamax models equal or greater to that, but cheaper.

Too expensive, you are wasting your money. Don't buy mon$ter hype. Don't waste money on marketting! Pay for quality NOT NAME!!

...and in fact Panamax is considered to be at the top by many audio-videophiles. Personnally I like the APC products. Proven brand but you pay for the product NOT for marketting ;)

    Cheers!

Just buy a Furman....PS Audio....Panamax....Shunyata....Belkin....the world is your used oyster, and sometimes NEW as well. They sent you that email because Amazon probably just bought 1 billion of them.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Furman is another great product and so is Belkin!

I kinda figured it was overpriced for it's MONSTER name. Like i said i am not a fan of them but i wanted to ask.
I just need a cheap one for my computer rig, don't really want to spend a ton. I will look into some units by the names mentioned.
    Thanks guys.:)

I'd pass on it simply on principle.

As Doro said, they're sending you those emails because they bought a billion of them, and can't get rid of them.

You could get an APC H10 for not a whole lot more money, and it would probably be a vastly superior product. Plus you're not supporting a company like Monster that has completely terrible morals.

Tiger Direct runs sales on the APC units from time to time. Regular price is $200 IIRC...they have them on sale for $100 fairly frequently though.

I will keep an eye out for a sale. I'm not in a rush for one i just want it for the insurance on the computer rig. Only had em going for about 4 hours now but i'm loving these Tannoys Face directed me to.

Occasionally, Tiger Direct will even run a sale on the APC H15 for $100...I don't think they have for quite a while though. I missed out on the last one.

I like my APC H10 quite a bit. It gave me slightly darker sounding backgrounds and cleaned up the overall sound very nicely...but without coloring the sound at all.

I highly recommend an Equitech balanced power conditioner. I have the "model Q" (1RQ) and it is the best conditioner I have personally used by far. New, they are expensive but look for a used one and you can find one for the $400.00 range which is obviously a lot more than the $107.00 prince of the Monster. The difference in quality will be MAJOR though. (i.e. It is worth the extra money).

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Thanks for the recommendation but this is way out of my price range for this particular rig. Maybe the bedroom or living room setup at some point down the road but not right now.:(

I own one only because my bestbuy discount made the cost to me 39 bucks. We sold them for 200.00 and my discount was cost to the company so you figure Amazon has maybe at most 50 bucks in them. There are many better products out there for your use. I will admit it does a good job and I have not been disappointed.:D

I've used this one by Belkin for over a year now. Has light meters and indicators letting you know it's working and how many amps you're drawing. Cost less than the M unit your looking at and has it's own  factor in my system.
