Woo Hoo!!
The SDA-1C's are home safe and sound. I had been pretty busy all day and just a few minutes ago unboxed them and set each into its place. The first thing I had to do was connect my mono-blocks together. I installed a jumper between the negative posts and then also connected the chassis' together.

At the moment, they are close to 10' between centers and 7" from the back wall.

I just fired up the amps and am listening to just the tv through them right now. I am going to give the amps an hour to warm up and me the time to down a couple beverages before I put in the tunes. I have not made a decision on the inaugural selection, but am leaning towards Steeley Dan or Dire Straits....vinyl or cd....?

So far, with the tv...pretty darn impressive.

Congrats and they look great. Looks like they already have 194 tweets.

I think 10' is a little wide. I think the manual calls for 6-8'.

They look like good candidates for mysesound spikes.

Enjoy the 1Cs they are great speakers and respond very well to upgrades.

Congrats on the new babies!! I'd be good with either Steely Dan or Dire Straits. Love them both. Vinyl. I see you have the 1C's on carpet....spikes will really add to clarity of bass for a relativley inexpensive upgrade. Oh and last thing, I'll bet that chair gets warm!!

Yeah, they have the 194 tweets and a crossover upgrade by Ben. They are already set up for 1/4x20 spikes. I think I might even already have a set. I have a pair of stands that are spiked. They came from a fellow CP member and a great guy, along with a set of Monitor 10b's. The same member I got the SDA's from in fact. Anyways, the stands have spikes that appear to be compatible with the SDA's. I had thought about putting them on during initial setup, but decided on waiting a week or two so as to be able to hopefully notice a difference.

The manual calls for 6'-8', but is that between inside edge of cabinets, from center, or what? I will be doing much experimenting with placement in the coming days. I am going to have to do some furniture rearranging as well. Eventually they will go into a dedicated sound room.

Congrats man... Dire Straits all the way.

Thanks! Dire Straits at the moment, Steely Dan is up next..Can't Buy a Thrill...Vinyl. Yeah, the chair thing was a concern at first, but it really doesn't even get warm after several hours with the Monitor 10's. We will see how warm the amps get with the SDA's. This is only a temp setup...there is a dedicated sound room in the works.

At the moment all I can say is wow! This is even better than I imagined it would be. There is so much more,....well,...everything. The first thing I notice is the depth of the soundstage. Or was it the width, or height, or the, or the, or the.....

I'm just kind of dumbfounded at the moment.

not to deraill, but what is it about the BIA lp?? Maybe I'm just missing something,or am too old to appreciate or hear it,, cause I just played it again and it just does not do it for me. The one with "calling elvis" and "you and your friend" is pretty good though. :o

Some pressings sound better than others George. I've got three copies and only one of them sounds really good. It's got Robert Ludwig's initials on the run off.

It is just an off the shelf copy purchased, I don't know, maybe 20 yrs ago.

I tried out the spikes I had on hand, but wrong size. Looks like I will be ordering a set this week. Even without the spikes though, I am still floored. At the moment, I am jamming to Rush 2112. It never sounded so good.

Does it also have "ST" in the deadwax?

I look back on my 1C upgrade path and I think that the biggest "bang I heard was the caps/resistors/RDO 194's,,,then the dynamatting drivers/BP upgrade,,and finally the Mye spikes,,fortunately they were original owner,(as in never been moved with excellent cosemetics). This is the third time I have owned such a pair, and I do not think I'll ever let them go,, they are like a Labrador,,always faithful.Enjoy your speakers sir,,I hope you get as much pleasure with them,as I do mine.Congrats.;)

No lies when you heard they were awesome!!...ha ha I am a big fan of Hot rodded 1C's, you got yourself a keeper that's for sure. Nothing in today's world can compare for the price. Spike'em with quality pieces and nothing left to do, you will notice a nice increase in solid bass responce. Trust me:)
