You know when I feel bad...?

I was driving home from a long day at work and it was pouring out. Of course I would have to see two people a guy and a girl in a t-shirt both walking on the side of the road. As I said it was pouring out on my dash I can see it is a chilling 39 out.
I immediately wanted to give them a ride but I didn't. I felt guilty the whole ride home.
It just rips me up... seeing that stuff.

    Don't loose a wink.

A nice guy helped a couple at the beach here. they said they told him they needed a ride back to the bus station. After getting in his car and leaving, they killed him somewhere, ditched his body and partied while driving his new mustang as if it was theirs. They said it was his fault he died, he shouldn't have been a nice guy. They actually said that in court.

I used to hitch hike alot when I was younger and alot of nice guys gave me rides. But times have changed sooooo much, I don't feel I need to repay those kind guys' favours anymore....no way.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

I used to give guys and couples rides over the years until about 15 yrs. ago when murders were happening more and more by hikers. I karma'd back out what was done for me I think.

Several months ago I gave a homeless beggar vet on the on-ramp a can of fresh raisins I had brought for lunch.
I mean, you get them so sweet and juicy-fresh like that once in a blue moon.

I felt pretty good about that, until I bought the next can, and it was 2 lbs of stale, dry pebbles that tasted like flavored ****.

I have done many good deeds helping strangers in my short years but picking up hitch hikers is one I just couldn't bring myself to do. After a bad experience with me needing help, I don't know if I wanna be "nice" to anyone any more. I was at the gas station with my old Ford gassing up. The new battery I had put in it had gone dead. Not a single person would give me a jump, even tho at least 20 people had come and gone through the station. One even said his Blazer wasn't powerful enough to start my truck:confused: I asked the clerk if she could help and said it was her dad's car(she's like 50 something) and she didn't want anything to happen to it. I had to wait 30 mins until my brother could come and jump it. Were they intimidated by the size of the truck? I don't know but I think my days of helping my fellow people in need are over.:(

"I don't know but I think my days of helping my fellow people in need are over."

Let's not let the bad guys win. Refusing to help others just because others don't help us makes us just as bad as them and takes our society down another notch. Yeah, we can't help everyone and we need to use a little common sense when it comes to choosing whom we help. But helping others just feels great - to the one being helped and to the one doing the helping. Lifting others up lifts our society with it.

I will sometimes, but I have a truck and will not let them ride in the cab with me.

A guy asked me for a ride one time, it was probably in the high 40s, and he said he just needed to go down the road a little ways. I said sure (he caught me when I was getting off of work) and to hop in the bed. He was like "in the bed?" and i was like..."yea...in the bed, i dont mind taking you where you need to go, even if it is out of my way, and i have a blanket." He declined...kind of made me wonder...

And unless I'm in a hurry for one reason or another, I always stop for people with vehicles on the side of the road unless it looks like a capable male changing a tire or something similar. But I'm also always packing, so I do feel a lot safer because of that.

When I hit a raccoon in my wife's civic, someone stopped for me on the side of a pretty deserted road with no lights at night. But he did say he could smell the fluid leaking out when he drove by...I guess would be another reason that you know someone is in real trouble for the most part. And I also live in Texas and it seems to me that people are just generally more helpful here than some other states I've been in and heard about from other people's experiences. I was on a plane one time and a lady asked if I was in the military, as we were talking and I was saying yes ma'am and no ma'am (shes like in her 60s btw). I told her no, just the way I was raised. She said it was nice to hear that stuff as she hardly ever does...and just in case you were wondering, she was from California :)

Yeah I mean live in a rural area...not really a city...if you linked like four towns close to each other you wouldn't even touch the population of a city...theer is like .6 or .7 people per acre where I live...most people where I live had 2-5 for a home user and the farm people have like 10-20 acres, not many farms left though...never liked the cow **** smell anyway.
Anyway I mean I'm a really nice guy and I hate it when that happens.
I'm always donating to causes, and I mean I just hate seeing that because you know if they were good people they probably have a nasty cold right now....or maybe pneumonia.

Oh well. As for me packing I have a Gerber LMF II ASEK edition. under my seat so I mean if I had too....well. You know things could get nasty...

I pick up hitchhikers fairly frequently. I've been the one hitchhiking on countless occasions though, and I've been picked up plenty of times. I like to return the Karma into the pool for future use.:)

I give folks rides sometimes at my university. Sometimes when I'm in a rush I don't. Don't sweat it. PC, you worry too much. I do mean that in a good way of course. If folks didn't worry, get annoyed or want something better we might as well be listening to Bose speakers. BUT. Life's too short. Enjoy it.
