Or solder the wire to the terminal, and use a normal-size disconnect in-line somewhere.
I bought some smaller-than-usual push-on terminals; but even those were too large. -
Are you asking which is + and which is - or are you looking for the actual connector's?"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. actually, H9, i was eventually going to ask the polarity question...when i went with 194s, i just did it by ear, more or less..one cabinet has blue and white wires while the other has black and white,,,the ser #s are close too..
and yes, my original question was about the connectors going to the 198s
thanks

If you're not going to use your old SL2000 connections, is there any chance I could have them? When I received my SDA SRS's, they were missing some of the stock connections and I'm always afraid the new ones (which are too big) are going to come undone.
If you're planning to use them for something else, no worries, but I figured it would be worth asking!

Mike,

P.S.: Toolforlifefan . . . it was my impression back when I did the mod (and the schematics back me up) that the wider lug (white) on the RDO-198 is the negative lug and black (smaller) is +. Did I misinterpret?VTL ST50 w/mods / RCA6L6GC / TlfnknECC801S

That is correct otherwise you would be out of phase.. My 1.2's were wired out of phase at the crossovers when I got them, they sounded just fine I never looked at it when I got them till someone here pointed it out and as far as I know there were 3 of us that had that same issue..Polk Audio SDA 2.3tl Fully Hot Rodded. 😎

Believe it or not that is not an uncommon occurance. -
Strangely enough, Polk has the tweeter polarity reversed on some models. The + post of the tweeter is actually connected to the - section of the crossover. The schematics bear this out.
Examples, from http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55888 post #5
2.3TL (but not the 2.3)
1.2TL (but not the 1.2) (best example, shows color codes)
There may be others, I didn't do an exhaustive search.
Go figure.
Polk still used the white wire/colored wire pairing for the tweeters; the white wire is now the "powered" wire but goes to the - terminal. The colored wire--which in most of the other models is the "Powered" wire--connects the tweeter + terminal to ground. (In short, it seems that no matter what speaker model you have, a white wire goes to the - post on the tweeter, the colored wire (black is considered a color) goes to the + post, the + post may or may not be painted red.)
With regard to the "reverse polarity" speakers...HOW a person is supposed to keep those white wires in the correct positions is beyond me. The color code is--obviously--the same, yet each white wire carries a different (frequency/amplitude modified) signal depending on tweeter position. The colored wires which would be easy to keep in correct position...all go to the same place (ground).
This makes not a damned bit of sense to me; but there it is on the schematic, big as day. Maybe someone will confirm that there's an error in the schematics. -
gotta keep this thread open before i committ to the snip snip:)

The positive terminal is reversed on a few of the SL3000 SDA's because they are 3rd order XO's on the highs and 2nd order on the lows.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

You're saying that one terminal is too LARGE on the 198 to fit your wiring???
What are the widths of the terminals you're working with? -
When I installed the 198s into my 1Bs, there was a terminal on the 198 tweeter that fit the existing wiring, and a terminal that was way too small for the existing wiring.

No...you're right.....the tab that's red is too small. the other fits the existing female connector on my 2b -
Lets put this to bed with the facts.
Image of backside of RDO-198 (replaces SL-3000) with smaller (red painted) positive terminal (generally black wire) and wider negative terminal (generally white wire).
The RD0-194 (replaces SL-2000) has the smaller terminal on BOTH plus and minus poles.
I soldered a (1/8" to 1/4"?) female lug (seen at bottom of photo) from Radio Shack to my negative wire to keep it plug and play.

well it's a proud moment!:p my step-son has a soldering iron, so i got all brave! i did it my 1st! it's kinda cool, too! i like the soldering feel:) anyway, thanks for all the helpful polkforum help...my Xover's should be home this week! -
SDA2,
I think inspired added the text to that photo for us 'visual' type of people who have a hard time drawing a mental picture from words alone.
