hey there, i recently bought a new driver for an old powered sub, long story short i think the amp blew. is there a way to hook up the sub to my pre and amp ie turning it into a passive sub. it does not have a cross over in it or binding post just rca in. my thought was to send sub out to my amp via rca then speaker wire to driver itself from the amp.any ideas?

    I don't think so.. :(
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

    Actually you kind of can.
I know one time I was on Crutchfield.com and they had a little thing that was an RCA that turned into speaker wires...so...maybe talk to them they may have it still. It could work, if not I think it was 13 just send it back and they pretty much give you your money back.

If your pre amp/receiver has sub-woofer controls and a separate volume it should work fine, but getting one below would do much better.
