SDA-2 Buzz At Higher Volumes

This is my first post. Hope it goes well. I recently picked up a pair of SDA-2's for my Marantz 2270 reciever. They start to buzz at higher volumes - especially if the song has a lot of mid-range sound. If I disconnect the inter-connect, they work fine. And if I use a different receiver, they work fine. The Marantz works fine with other speakers.

So it's something between the Marantz and the speakers. Is it some kind of grounding problem or is the Marantz different in someway that it just will not drive the SDA's?

Help. Thanks.

Sounds like the Marantz is the problem but also could be a bad connection somewhere. The IC cable could be bad as well.
Others with more knowledge will chime in for sure.

    Good Luck!

Hope someone can come up with a solution. The combination of the Marantz and the SDA's at lower volumn is incredible.

It would seem as though the Marantz is non-common ground, although that is highly unusual for a receiver.

    Do you have a VOM?

There is a chassis ground screw on the back. Should I ground it to the outlet?

Just an FYI: I did try the grounding screw - no difference. And I guessed that the common ground means that the negative terminals are common? I disconnected the speakers and checked and they do appear to be common - if that's what you meant?

Thanks for your help. I went through every screw I could safely check. No change. Any other ideas out there, I'd love to hear them.
