You don't need a tax cut. Why on earth would you want some more of your OWN money, that you worked for? You might not spend it correctly. The democrats can spend your money better than you can, why rob them of that right? Two Channel Main

Yeah, good point. Besides, how the heck is giving people back their own money (which they are probably just going to go out and spend) going to help the economy? Gosh. -
You see, they won't spend it in all the right places. There needs to be a 900 billion dollar government program to tell us how to spend our money correctly. Of course we'll need multiple tax hikes in order to pay for this but we NEED the program to tell us how to live!!Two Channel Main

Two comments about errors in your thread title.
This is the Bush tax cut plan, not the Cheney plan. While I respect Vice President Cheney, credit should go where it is due.
Secondly, it is more than a 2% tax cut. Ignoring things like elimination of the marriage penalty and increases in credits for dependent children, the cut is still larger than 2%.
What I mean is simple. Say for example, you were in the 30% tax bracket (Singles with Adjusted Gross Income of 68,800 to 143,500 or Couples with Adjusted Gross Income of $114,650 to 174,700), your tax rate will fall from 30% under the old tax law to 28% under the new tax law. This is a 6.67% reduction in your tax rate, not a 2% reduction.
Democrats are trying to minimize the impact of the tax cuts by making the reductions sound smaller than they really are.
But of course, the important thing about this tax plan is the reduction in taxes on dividends and capital gains. We need to stimulate investment from businesses to get the economy growing the way we should be growing. This will help make it happen. -
Addendum correction (LOL)
Of course you are right. Actually, to pick the nit farther, you also have to calculate the percentage change that the smaller margins contribute to the difference.
Thank you for braking the TIE in the Senate Cheney
psst...
The President (or VP for that matter) doesn't write the legislation anyway.... -
Nothing like politics to bring out the best in us. Enough said from me..I'm leaving before my blood pressure starts to rise..again. Please..Please no more politics in this forum..this is one of the few places I come to get away from it! I know you will say well hell just don't visit but damn there it is..can't help myself. Ok the tax cut is a stepping stone but how about our lawmakers rid us of some of the ridiculous social services programs that we pay out of our asses in taxes for. I'm tired of the damn lazy people who make a career out of our welfare system.etc. etc. etc. etc.
I really got to go now.....suds, suds and more suds! -
LOL

Argues against my political thread and then sends it off on an equally political tangent.
