The Hobbit (cartoon)

Does anyone know if the old cartoon of The Hobbit (Rankin/Bass 1977) is going to be re-released for Blu-ray? It seems the current DVD version has a few problems with the sound track and several effects that haven't been fixed. I wonder now about the possibility of a re-release on Blu-ray as The Lord of the Rings was just released on Blu recently. While it was ok, I grew up watching this version of the story and loved the stylized animation. Just curious. Thanks ahead of time for any who might know....

I watched this version but didn't catch any problems.
I hope the movie they're supposed to make, makes me laugh as much as the book did.:D
I liked the Hobbit so well, I read the "Lord of the Rings" right after it!:)
I doubt they will blue ray this though.
I hope for you, I'm wrong. Good luck. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
I had this versions soundtrack on vinyl when I was a kid, might have to go and find it at my parents house. I would listen to it daily when I was 5-6 yrs old, it had four albums in the set. I still remember sittin in front of the tubed Zenith stereo console listening to it, man that old thing cranked! Most of them only hear how loud it sounds, and the rest of us hear everything else -

I ripped the LP. It's a 2LP set. Glen Yarborough on one and then all instrumental on the other IIRC.
Some people hate this interpretation but it's like Star Wars, maybe not the greatest movie, but it holds a special meaning to many of us.
The voice work in this is incredible though. John Huston as Gandalf...just incredible.
"You feel the love of beautiful things"....what a trip.

As adaptations go and cartoons - it's pretty good. Some things just ain't right though.....dragons shouldn't have fur....and Elrond isn't ****

It was always just a classic for me growing up. I think I had it on either 8 track or cassette as well. Was just crossing my fingers...

Just pulled a quick search myself, couldn't find anything about it being released on blu. I'm also curious if the soundtrack has a snowball's chance of being re-released as well. It holds a special place in the scarred, blackened lump that was a heart when little me watched this roughly 58,000 times.
Also, someone's got the entire movie uploaded in 10-minute segments on youtube. I sat and watched it the other day before deciding that I had to get the dvd. -

If the soundtrack is out or print on vinyl, is that allowed to be shared because that particular pressing is out of print; the DVD contains some of the songs from the LP but not all IIRC.For Sale 2019:
