Want to rebuild old speakers

I have a pair of old Vintage Pioneer CS-77A That I used to use when i was around 16 or 17. I recently found them in my Garage and wanted to recone the tweeter and fix maybe the crossovers? I may have to replace a woofer or two as well.
When I get home I can post picture of what they look like and what the damage is.
They will cut completely turn any receiver in to safe-standby mode i have ever tried them on once the volume is at half on any receiver. It doesn't matter how good the receiver is. It happens.
I'd really like to have these back and running again since they were amazing speakers. They had a 95db sensitivity and a 30-20k hz.Plus real Oak wood I believe. They were crazy.
If anyone has any ideas on how to fix these up it would be greatly appreciated.
These are the Specs I could find on them
- 4-Way / 4-Driver, "Infinite Baffle" / Air / Acoustic Suspension cabinet design
- Pioneers "F.B." design driver cones deliver more rigidity and lightweight performance resulting in quicker response and better mid-end with less distortion
- 30 cm / 12" "FB" (Free-Beating, wool impregnated pulp) Woofer
- 12 cm / 5" "FB" Midrange
- 7 cm / 2.75" "FB" Tweeter
- Multi-cell Super-Tweeter for less "beam" and greater dispersion over standard compression horns.
- "Real" 4-way crossover with crossover points @ 450 Hz, 3600 Hz and 14KHz.
- All Pioneer built components
- Dual 3-position Mid and Top-end Frequency level attenuators
- Push-button inputs
Specs:
Impedance: 8 ohms
Efficiency: 95dB 1w @ 1m
Frequency Response: 35-20,000 Hz, +/- 3 dB
Cross-over frequencies: 450 Hz, 3600 Hz and 10KHz
Power Rating: 65 watts RMS
Measure 25"h x 14.5"w x 12.5"d and weigh 45 lbs each

good place to start.....email them for anything you might need, they will send you in the right direction.... -
So they can help me with what I need?
Are they trustworthy or whatnot I don't want to get burned like I have in the past.
They said they didn't have any of my parts in. Only a few of them. And they are wicked expensive...
Is there a way I could...like use the cabinet and maybe build a whole new speakers setup...anyone have any knowledge on that?
Or maybe a cheaper parts store?Receiver

If you went with the just using the cabinets and completely rebuilding them route, one place you could check out is parts express. You can speak directly with one of their techs and help you through the process with everything you would need. Lot of their stuff has gotten pretty good reviews. I just recently bought one of their Dayton subs and bash amps from them and built an enclosure for it. It sounds absolutely amazing and for about a third of what it would have cost me to buy a completed sub of that caliber:DI love animals, they're delicious!

PartsExpress does have a lot of Pioneer drivers. May be a nice place to start.
(or you could use all of that money to by some Vintage Polk Audio speakers!) -
Just watch your $$$ as those Pioneer's aren't really worth putting money into from a listening/investment point of view. I realize they are sentimental and that's where the value lies. So don;t think your going to spend a lot of $$$ refurbing these and hoping to make your $$$ back, because you won't come close.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. True. I have the polk 50s and the sub...it's just that these used to be some gnarly speakers... I mean they were nasty. They shook the house and it was the kind of bass you felt in the chest...my 300 watt 12 inch 505 can't really make you feel it in your chest like these could...
It is a real shame...
So, parts express should be my first place to start?
Anyone's suggestion on a money limit?Receiver
