PSW505 2 channel setup

After having used my Polk PSW505 sub with my HT for a few years, I am curious how it would sound used in my 2 channel system. It may not be a good match for the system, but at least it may give me some insight on what I could expect.

I wanted to connect the sub to my older Accuphase integrated amp but unsure which connections to use on the sub, and how to connect it to the amp, which does not have provision for sub input.

The amp does have "A" & "B" for speakers and was thinking of connecting it using the "B" speakers, and "SPEAKERS IN" on the sub.

Any assistance or advise is appreciated.

Cheers, Pete.

I have the same subwoofer. You put can just use the speaker wire setup for them it will run just fine.
You put the speaker wire from the recievers A or B whichever you prefer to the subwoofers Speaker Output then put the speaker wire from the speakers to the subwoofer in the speakers In
Then you just set the volume (mins is a little over half) and the hrtz crossover (Mine is about 90-100) YOUR SET.

Depending how close the speakers are to the sub and the reciver is to the subwoofer you may need a lot of speaker wire...Polk reccomends 16 but I picked up 100 feet of scoshe 14 AWG wire for like 27.

depends on what amp you have, alot of amps with A/B switching will wire speakers in series, which is BAD, whats the model number of your amp?

also you can simply just twist two sets of wires together and hook one into the sub, and hook both sets into the same output with no issues.

The amp is the Accuphase E205.

I was also figuring as you suggested that I could put the sub and main speaker cables together in the "A" speaker binding posts.

The owner's manual didn't have the scenario for an older 2 channel amplifier with a sub hook-up. All the pic's were for AVR's.

I was intending to put the sub smack in the centre of the two main speakers to give an accurate soundstage.

Technically a subs sound is omnidirectional and can be out in any number of different spots. Putting it in the center isn't always going to make for the best sound. Get plenty of speaker iwre and move it around until you find the best spot.
