Hi, i have an onkyo 705 and i have mt rti10's(got em 2 weeks ago) bi-wired from my receiver. I bi-wired these speakers after i had called polk audio support and asked a support professional. She said it would give more power to the mid and tweeter to help smooth out sound. I plan on getting an external amp but not at this time, am i going to hear much difference with these not bi-wired than bi-wired? Also im experiencing a certain amount of what seems like distortion (to my ears) through the mid or tweeter of my left speaker. Is that even possible with the amount of power im sending through these speakers? Onkyo 705 supposedly does 100 wpc into 8 ohms. If these are bi-wired does it not mean that 100 watts goes to the subs and 100 watts to the mid and tweeter? If im wrong then so be it, thanks for the support guys!

you have two things confused bi wired and bi amped. eaiest way to explain. Bi wired means you have 1 pair of cables that will be a + and - on one end and then it will split into 4 two + and two -'s on the other. this would be used with a 5 way binding post where there are two sets of the + and - on the rear of the speaker. If doing this you need to make sure you remove the metal jumpers otherwise it will not sound correct.
Bi amped means you run two different cables from the AVR to the speaker. one set will be from the one output on the AVR to one of the pair of binding post and then from another out on the AVR to the other binding post. It can be debated if this will make a difference or not. In my experience doing this for HT didn't make a ton of difference and only time I noticed anything was in stereo mode for music.
I normally perfer a good pair of cables no bi wired with a good power amp.
