Your AVR HAS pre-outs so start searching for an external AMP and you will be set.

I have the yamaha 565 with monitor 70s and think it sounds just fine. I am using all 7 channels and can't complain the least bit.

You CAN get by with the Yamaha and it'll sound OK but get a power amp for those front channels and it'll sound EVEN BETTER!

If you just got those Monitors....break them in SLOWLY...at moderate volumes for a while or you might fry the tweeter by clipping the Yamaha?

Once the break in they're a bit more 'resistant' to damage!
