I just bought an S series and then while looking on the internet I see the U series.
..They seem to be the same plasma but the U series is a couple hundred $ cheaper. Anybody know why?
Thanks

    Does this help at all?

    Panasonic U1 Series Plasma
    60
    Panasonic U1 Series Plasma
    January, 2009
    $1,399.00
    Pros

    * 1080p, 600Hz
    * affordable prices
    * available in 3 distinct sizes (42", 46", 50")

    Cons

    * only in sizes up to 50"
    * ugly aesthetics
    * does not include an energy efficiency NEO PDP panel - previous generation plasmas use considerably more electricity than LCD screens

    7
    Panasonic VIERA S1 Series
    March, 2009
    $1,199 - $3,200
    Pros

    * 1080p, 600Hz
    * Uses half the power needed to run all previous plasmas!
    * great contrast

    Cons

    * Picture viewing through SDCard is very slow
    * Worse color accuracy than the G10 step-up line (inaccurate green, and red push)
    * leaves out the Internet connectivity and digital media features of the G10 Series

    I think so. I just bought a S2 series.

    It looks like a U series uses more power.

    That's good for me even though mine will use 353 watts while on. I bought a 50" and It won't be a TV that's on all the time anyway. I was reigned in from getting a 58"er for now.
    Next purchase might be a projector by Epson per member of the forum here.
