My PR on the left channel has started to sag and need replacement. :( I hope there is a friendly soul out there who might have one extra for sale.

    Sag or Ptosis

Ptosis is a natural part of the aging process, though the rate at which a person develops ptosis depends on many factors. Ptosis can result after pregnancy, or after weight gain and subsequent loss. Breast size is a factor in ptosis, with larger **** becoming ptotic more quickly.

For some reason the lower part of the PR is more outward and the upper part more inward. Looks like the rubber is slowly giving away.

I can help with your sagging PR, but not your personal ptosis issues.

Take the PR out of the speaker cabinet, look at the back of the basket and you will see a piece of styrofoam and a piece of pleated paper. Reglue the two together, problem solved.

You are so right!! Could you recommend some glue or will a glue gun work? I am a little disappointed with the Polk quality. It was made 25:th of January 1991 and already broken  You guys are amazing not sure what I would do without this site.

WTF!!! You have a TWENTY YEAR OLD SPEAKER!!!:rolleyes:

I would say not only has it held up very well for it's age, It has gone above and beyond. And remember that Polk provides this place to assist people just like you in keeping them going even longer. Polk quality and support are second to none.

    Good luck on the repair.

I do recall seeing a few posts about the proper glue, but don't recall what it was. I can tell you that you should NOT use hot glue, epoxy or any glue that will melt styrofoam. Drop Ken Swauger a PM, he might recall what Polk used originally.

John, his comment was in jest.

I have been prowling the styrofoam forums tonight. There are actually people who like to discuss this. Anyway wood glue seems to be the way to go. Will do some testing later.

Ok, I can see that. Yellow wood glue such as Titebond is good stuff. Stay away from Gorilla glue....nasty stuff.

John, I hope things improve quickly.

I guess my prayers paid off!

They did! Thank You and a big Thank You to F1nut. :) The teenagers are now back again. Wood glue seems to stick very well to styrofoam. I tried out every glue I had available at home and while some make big nasty holes in styrofoam wood glue came out on top. Must be water based or something. Did some full power testing after the glue was fully cured and the bond seems to hold without problems.

Found that a reinforcement beam had fallen down on the other speaker but also easily fixed.
