Have to disagree with you on this one, Kunta:

Excellent marketing, excellent product appearance, excellent price point, and I'd have to assume good sound.

As the d00ds on this link

say, there's other products out there on the market on the cheap side that are .... posers ...... but Polk's nailed it with the Hitmaster.

    Good work.

I don't think the declining music gaming market will really affect this much.

A big reason for that, as stated earlier in this thread, is the fact that a lot of people already have these games, and don't need to buy them again. Many of these people still play them on a daily basis though, whether or not it's a brand new game. Point is, these people are going to keep playing their same copies of Guitar Hero and Rockband for many years to come, and I think a lot of people would really appreciate the upgraded sound that a product like this offers. These would be great for college kids that are in small dorm rooms, and can't accommodate(or afford) a larger stereo or HT setup.

Declining sales aside, it's not as if this product can ONLY be used with guitar hero and rockband. It will also make for a vast improvement over the TV speakers, in every other game you own...not just music based games. Yes, Rockband is this products main target market...but not it's exclusive market.

For that matter, the Hitmaster could also make for a great way for kids to get better music quality.

Do you know how many kids out there have almost all of their music ripped onto their Xbox 360 or PS3? Most of these kids are also listening to their music through their TV speakers, which sounds much less than stellar. A lot of kids these days have never even heard music through a proper Hi-Fi. Instead, we have legions of kids listening to music through TV speakers, tiny ear buds and the internal speakers of cell phones.

Now, with the Hitmaster, kids can turn on some music in their Xbox 360, and have their tunes pumping through the Hitmaster, making for an enormous improvement over the junk speakers that are built into their TV's. This goes back to what I said earlier, about exposing people to the benefits of good audio. This product has a lot of multi-faceted benefits...and I think Polk was VERY smart to put this product out.

Yes, this product was intended for the music gaming market...but it's a product that opens up the "high end" audio market to a niche of people that may never have discovered it otherwise.
