I-pod Touch Wi-Fi into Laptop/pre-amp?

Can i use my ipod touch with wi-fi to play trough my laptop connected via mini-to-RCA audio cable to my pre-amp inputs? Ive been told i :confused:have to download the remote app on my i-touch. What kind of sound quality will i be getting? thanks
