New monitor needed.CRT or LCD

My sony 400ps (19"crt)is doing faint pop and the screen flashes.Its happening more often lately so its time to get a new monitor.
I would like to get a 22"-24 inch samsung,acer or asus.
Ive never had an LCD so will my XFX 4890 be able to run a decent frame rate at the native resolution.(1920 x 1080) Ive read that thats the best way to run the things.
Then there is the CRT.Best option for gaming and running at different resolutions.There is a 22 inch NEC MultiSync FE1250 22" CRT still in its original box and never used I could get for 29.95 + 60.00 shipping.
Damn what a hard decision to make.I refuse to buy a LCD monitor online like newegg, tiger direct ,etc..Simply because of thier BS return policy.1 dead pixel is one too many as far as Im concerned.

Yes, LCDs look pretty bad running at anything other than their native resolution. Just make sure your video card is set to feed it the proper resolution and your lcd monitor isn't set to resize it somehow. Text and graphics should be crisp and sharp.

But you shouldn't have any problem unless your video card is very old.

Also there are some different lcd technologies you can look into that improve off angle viewing if that's important to you.

I suppose there still might be some advantages to a CRT, but IMO not enough to try and find some big, heavy 'obsolete' piece of equipment to stick on your desk.

There's also a gaming section of the forum. It's been a while since I shopped around for a high performance gaming monitor. You might get a better response in that section.

That looks like a nice monitor but it has no DVI input which I haerd was the the best way to hook it up for the best possible image quality.

I think I just may get a LG 24 inch from amazon since they dont have a pixel policy--:rolleyes: Ill pay extra for being able to return it if it has any dead pixels....
