Bummer man. But they are practically giving good stuff away so they get leeway in that respect. Right?

That is terrible. All it takes is a small peice of paper or a label maker. The goodwill in my area has a pricing gun that they use. I would be very upset if they wrote on speakers that i wanted to purchase.

They look nice. You said they were working fine? What are they?

Yeah thats crappy that they do that...I found "dissolvet" will get it right off and not damage the finish.

If its vinyl, you should be able to remove it with nail polish remover.

Rubbing alcohol might get it off.

Back in the day we used to write prices on tin cans with permanent marker. We took it off(repriced) by wetting the old writing with new permanent marker and then quickly wiping it off. This would usually get 90% of it off but depends on the surface.

    p.s. google is your friend...;)

That's a great price even if the vinyl was stripped off all the way down to raw particleboard :D

Hang in there, you'll find a way from the suggestions above to restore them as if they never touched them with a marker.

Nope -- those ones riding piggy-back are my $15 Dynaco A25s.

I already kicked them upstairs in my office/den with my Yamaha CA-610 / CT-610 near field 2 channel system.

There has to be a Chemist among us who knows of a solvent that will remove permanent marker ink? No?

Of course this has NEVER been a problem for me because there is NEVER anything worth buying at my GW--in the gear sense. WHERE do you guys find this stuff?

Would you like some GPX speakers?? Plastic boxes..only 5 dollars a pair!! lol

I have to ask, what's the spool on top of the TV?

lol -- thats my center channel speaker

An RCA Victor KS-16 satellite. It has a 6x9 mid and a 3 inch tweeter. I have a pair of them, just can't find any corresponding RCA-Victor PS-16 (tube amp phono cabinet with built in woofer).

    -- wayne --

p.s -- it's cylindrical and laying on it's side with the speakers pointing about 3 degrees down from horizontal

I would probably try (in order of aggressiveness):

    GooGone
    alcohol (either ethyl or isopropyl)
    acetone
    Goof Off (i.e., xylene)
    Naptha (lighter fluid)
    gasoline
    gasoline + match
    particle beam
    fission explosives
    fusion explosives

I was going to start my list with mother's spit, but truth be told, while it is a miracle solvent, it likely won't remove permanent marker :-)

    Holy Water... hmm...

and, in all seriousness, Goo Gone is pretty handy stuff.

"10" was a good mark to put on it though!

I remember someone wrote on the dry eraser board at work with a permanent marker. They tried everything from Goo Gone to SprayNine and it wouldn't come off. I was messing around and found that using a fresh DRY Eraser Marker (not red though) and scribbling over the marks reactivated the ink and you could quickly wipe it off with a windex soaked cloth.
It also works on other surfaces with permanent marker on them.
