So I got the pair of studio 1C's from Craigslist. I knew it was less than ideal conditions when testing but I listened to all the drivers and knew that all were working. They seemed evenly balanced so I plopped the $225 down and loaded them into the truck. I had to replace 1 SL2000 off the bat. No biggie. Then I decided to open them up and check the speaker array. I guess lesson learned is bring a screwdriver next time!!!! Right speaker from inside to outside. Top driver must be recent replacement. No numbers on back but SR142/17 on the front. Bottom is a 6510. Outside top is a 6511 and bottom 6501. Left speaker inside top is a 6511 and bottom is a 6510. Outside top is another 6510 and bottom is the SR142/17. They still soud excellent regardless of the mismatched driver situation. Anyone know what the SR142/17 is? Maybe a 6511? I was hoping to use the 6511's out of these to fix-up my 2.3's to keep them original but I guess that's out of the question now. Need 3 6511's. So as they say on The Peoples Court "the cheap comes out expensive". I guess the positive side is the SDA1's still sound good regardless of the driver compliment but now I have 2 projects instead of just 1.
