Production Suspended on Next Bond Film
You can call him Bond James Bond but dont bother calling him at the office, because Agent 007 is being suspended from duty. The producers of the James Bond film franchise, which since 1962 has yielded 22 movies adapted from or inspired by Ian Flemings stories, said they were halting work on a 23rd Bond film while they awaited the possible auction of MGM, the studio that releases the movies. In a statement reported by Reuters, the producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said, Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on Bond 23 indefinitely. The last two movies in the franchise, Casino Royale (2006) and Quantum of Solace (2008), which starred Daniel Craig, right, as Bond, sold a total of nearly $1.2 billion in tickets worldwide.

Publicity stunt? Maybe?If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -

I LOVED Casino Royale but Quantum of Solace started to get a little more like the older movies with the cheese and unreal stunts. I liked how gritty the first one was and I'm not expecting Bond to be 100% normal, or that everything should be within the limits of reality but ....c'mon. You know what I mean?
I think Sam Worthington would be good but I would miss Craig.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -

Since they have delayed this new movie, I hope it's for the right reasons (apparently MGM is for sale or something), and that they don't mess it up again.Alea jacta est! -
I loved Casino Royale at the theatre but wasn't crazy about Quantum. Now, on BR at home, I love throwing Quantum on the TV but Casino bores me.

Casino Royale was great, Quantum of Solace wasn't so great, but I still miss Pierce Brosnan as 007.- Jeremy

Gentlemen, gentlemen....everyone knows who Bond is? Sean Connery...the franchise, the original. To his credit, Craig was NOT the disaster I expected him to be and brought something a bit different to the screen.
But Pierce Brosnan...I gotta go with Doro on that pick! Whose idea was that??

Ok Mike you got me there. I am only going by the childhood memories, and for me the character will 'always' evoke Connery...who went on to show us that he had more diverse talents when he left the Bond series.
There were A LOT of BAD BONDS IMO....Dalton was one, Brosnan another, and we could add a few more to this list.

He was the bond when I was growing up, so I guess I'm biased. Connery is my overall favorite, and it seems most agree with that notion.- Jeremy

Just my opinion, but when watching all the early bonds, Sean Connery seems to have held up best over time. I watched bond as a kid on TV and remember the 70s and 80s bonds as a pretty good time. But now they just seem so dated and full of campy humor. Almost parodies rather than taking a more serious tone.

I do enjoy the Craig movies. It will be pretty sad if bond goes on a long hiatus again, just when Craig was getting a chance to better 'own' the character.

Yeah... Moonraker wasn't campy at all.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -
I thought Craig reminded me the most of Connery's style in Casino Royale. The **** of Quantum S. was not his fault IMO, but more because of very bad writing/directing or whatever ... something did not work at all for me in that movie, but I don't think his suitability for the role (or otherwise) was primarily to blame.
I thought Roger Moore suited the role very well too, in a similar style to all those old British "The Saint" shows where he played Simon Templar, and let's not forget Moore and Tony Curtis as The Persuaders! Great stuff if you like British retro-shows. I think there was a Mac vs. PC style argument at one time between Moore supporters and Connery supporters. I liked them both.

Bond is like Star Trek: it's almost impossible to ever have too much of it. I'll watch a new movie of either just to see for myself whether I like it or not, regardless of reviews.Alea jacta est!
