I'd like to see the torque numbers on that car as those rear tires could barely keep themselves on the road!

Either that car suspension wasn't set up right, or the driver sucked. He was all over the place when he was braking as well.

The Toyota Tacoma Pikes Peak can hit 60 MPH in 1.6 seconds but it's only geared to do 132 MPH. The "truck" was built and driven by New Zealander Rod Millen (Rhys's dad) for the 1998 Pikes Peak Hillclimb. The vehicle has nothing in common with the Tacoma and is, in fact, built on a chrome-molly tubular space frame chassis covered in a carbon fiber body. Power is generated by a 2.1-liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged and intercooled engine pumping out something in the neighborhood of 1,000 HP. It can hit 125 MPH in 4.9 seconds. With this "truck" Millen won the Pikes Peak Unlimited class in both 1998 and 1999. This video shows Millen driving the vehicle at the 2007 Goodwood Festival of speed, a non-competitive rolling showcase of rare racecars, not a full-on hillclimb. Keep that in mind as Millen tries furiously to keep the thing on the track, which he manages, we're guessing, for 75% of the climb.

I highly doubt that Rod Millen "sucks" as a driver. I also highly doubt that the car's suspension was improperly set up. I do believe that the truck is feather light tipping the scales around 1900 pounds with all-wheel drive and 1,000 horsepower. I think the fact that it didn't rocket off in to the woods is testament to skill and equipment rather than a detriment.

That is one serious turbo. Haven't heard a turbo that strong since the old IMSA GTP days.
