Neat, I wonder how long the loop is? Plus, do I have to wear that flava flav necklace for it to work?

This from the guy who would "rather it be a little chilly / warm in my house than live in a hermetically sealed chamber with fake recirculated air."?

It looks similar to something that has been tested using a wii remote called head tracking.

This would be kind of cool for people that live in big cities and have nothing but a view of a brick wall that's 4' away from them.

I've seen some building in Chicago where you could literally reach out your window, and touch the next building over.

Could be cool in those situations.

Other than that...I don't see the point. I'd rather look out the actual window...than look at YET ANOTHER LCD screen.

Practically it's ridiculous - not only is it prohibitively expensive, but you'd have to wear an LED harness at all times, and it would only work for one person - if more than one person was in the room the image would make no sense.

It's just NEAT, not practical :)

As spwuinmk67 pointed out, this technology was shown off by Johnny Lee at TED about 2-3 years ago. I believe the TED video of Johnny Lee used a ball park or maybe the golden gate bridge too. It's the exact same idea. This should be the video but I don't have time to watch and verify that it is.

    http://www.ted.com/talks/johnny_lee_demos_wii_remote_hacks.html

For the scene to track you, then you need a couple of IR LED's on your body somewhere. Or you can where IR reflectors and have an IR light source such that two IR dots are presented to the Wii remote (maybe earings?). Candles work too, although I don't know how you could wear them. Or, they need to change the tracking to some type of vision system.

The changing scene wall idea is cool but not revolutionary. Total Recall had such a scene, and maybe other movies as well.

    Still, neat idea.
