I currently have a psw110 and am not really happy with it.I want to get a new sub and was curious if the 505 would be a substantial improvement. I am currently saving to purchase a new sub and have been looking at offerings from HSU and SVS. I know that these are a different class of sub then the polk i have, but was curious if I could make due with the 505 for now.

How big of a difference, if any, will the 505 be over the 110 i have now?

The 505 will be leaps and bounds better than the 110, IMHO. The SVS and HSU's will be better than the 505, so it depends where you want to end up. If you are going to end up with an SVS or HSU, I would skip the 505 and save up the cash for one of the other 2. I would think you could live with the 110 in the meantime, until you can get the SVS or HSU. Good luck and welcome to Club Polk.

For 250.00 the 505 is unbeatable imo.

I have 2 of the 505 running in stereo mode and for H/T application ,they are okay for the money. My Klispch RD10 gives me more low impact than the Polk sub.

If you want a real thump on your chest or the tight impact on the floor, I would recommend to look elsewhere.

The 505 is good for music though . I wish I could try the HSU or the SVS but they are too heavy for my upstairs floor.

I just wanted to get some opinions on the 505. I know it gets great comments around here and for the price I am sure it is a great buy. I think that I am going to continue to save for one of the big boys.

Too heavy for the upstairs floor? They are about 100 pounds. No more than a person standing there. I guess that they may be too heavy to move upstairs.

I added up all my gear in a 14X 16 room including stands and the total weight is above 900lbs right now. I will not take no risk to add a 100lbs sub 'till I can get rid of some gear.

At least with the 505s, I can spread the weight by putting each 505 on both side of the front wall.

As you said for $250.00 a pop, it's still a very good buy.
