new tube pre!

i just hooked up my new tube pre! i got one from aric audio. i scored one he made for himself but barely used.:cool: it's running 12au7's. i'm listening to mark knopfler..sailing to philadelphia...definately more musical than the marantz 2270, which was no slouch! vocals are very lifelike. the marantz was known for being laid-back...i wanted more lively tunes and i got 'em. my ears tell me the bass may be lacking. but, i think my ears need 'burn in' time. all the other new aural thrills might be more out front than the lows, right now. so far, 20 minutes in, i'm impressed. aric is a good guy to deal with, too.

i think aric sent some sylvanias with it....i found some au7s in an old scott tuner i have. they look to be original..most of the letters have worn off though..

good session yesterday...some 'miles davis' 'cookin'...pianoes sound much more life-like...cymbals i'm noticing as well..and the bass is getting tasty!
i guess my old marantz was getting tired:cool: it's been moved to the bedroom along with the tube buffer...looks regal sitting up high w those blue lights:D i'll get pics tonight....this pre makes the music sound like it's in my room! ben's going to do his magic to my Xover's soon. will i be able to contain myself:p

I've chatted with Aric before and he's a good guy. He makes a real nice product in that preamp, and I got to hear one on a pair of Klipsch Horns and it was great.
