Hi everyone. I recently purchased a pair of Polk MC80 outdoor speakers that I will be installing in the soffits by my deck. The soffits on my house are blocked off as the attic is vented with large gable end vents and they get no air circulation at all. They are also solid wood making it a completely enclosed space. During the summer when the sun is beating down on the shingles, the temperature will probably reach well in excess of 140F.

My question...will the high temperatures cause premature breakdown of the speakers?

Polk Audio tests and makes their outdoor, car and marine speakers to be able to withstand anything mother nature throws at them. You'll be fine.
