My home theater - work in progress

Hello all, I thought I'd post a thread about my home theater (and the rest of my basement) that I am in the process of finishing. I joined CP to get more info about speakers for this project and decided to stick around. I'm glad I did and now I check the forum every day. Anyways here are a few pics so far. Let me know what you guys think, suggestions and ideas are welcome. Thanks!

That looks really nice. I wish I had a basement that I could use. Unfortunately basements are not very common where I live. Keep us updated, especially with pics.

If you can, I'd spend a tad more on the projector if you have not purchased it already. The Epson 8100 would give you better blacks and overall better image. Excellent project and it looks awesome bro.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

I agree about the projector, but I already picked up the HD20. I caught it on sale for $800 shipped, so I can't complain. That's a little over half the $1500 price tag on that Epson 8100. -
Nice purchase for the price though. Do some reading up on the HD20, you may want to consider grey screen if your going to keep it for awhile, to help out with black level.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Since Sherard asked me for some pics and I realized that I never updated this thread after finishing my basement, I decided to do just that. Since the system showcase is not letting me load pictures, there is only a description there. Here is a link to a Flickr page with my basement's completed pictures. Enjoy and please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

I sent you a PM, but my words still stand. Nothing short of awesome, amazing, gorgeous. Nice work bro. Save me some popcorn. I have a Paragon popper (looks like same size as yours), and I would recommend American Popcorn & Country Harvest if you have not tried it yet. You can find it on Amazon for about 20-30 bucks a case.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Yep, the plasma is behind the screen for when we don't feel like using the projector or wasting bulb time. We usually use the plasma for my kids to watch their shows and so on.HTguru1982 wrote: »SNES... best gaming console ever! Great setup, very clean.
Thanks! The audio rack looks a mess behind it because you can see the wires due to the camera's flash. In reality it is completely dark behind the rack (when the light in the crawlspace is off) and you can't see any of those wires.Grimster74 wrote: »After looking at it again, which wall is the audio rack installed on?
Here you go Rob, you can see the placement of the audio rack a bit in the left side of this picture:

I'm just curious about the seat placement.
What was your reasoning for the positioning of the loveseat and couch? (I might have reversed their positions).Polk Fronts: RTi A7's

I can understand that and we looked into that as well, but the couch is too long for that back wall and would have stuck out a few inches from the end of the wall / counter. Then if we put the loveseat on the side wall it would block the third seat of the couch. I wanted to do two couches since the loveseat and couch were the same price, but we would have run into the same issue. We had originally purchased a sectional, but it would not fit down the steps because there are 6 steps then a 90 degree turn then another 8 steps. They even delivered it and tried to fit it down there, but no go. I was at work, but my wife said it was quite amusing to watch. -

Sounds like a plan. I have relatives near Alexandria, VA, so I might just be down there some time soon. Thanks for the invite and let me know if you are up this way. -

Yes that would be him. His room is awesome. If you guys are ever in Japan, let me know we can have a few drinks also. I frequent PA on a regular Zeros, so maybe we can drive down and visit Rob ( Grim) together. I usually shoot through Grims when I'm out in PA on business every year.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!
