Does the phrase "so shut up shuttin' up, already!" mean anything? Jeez... amazing to see so many people pulled in...

Anyway, let's get something straight here... I seriously doubt anyone completely ignores "specs" given that "specs" do NOT mean only the numbers put out by the manufacturer. Those are *manufacturers specifications*, and they may or may not prove to be accurate. Hardcore benchtest numbers are ALSO specifications... the specifics of the component in question. When Saheed said "specs are worthless, just look at the receiver power ratings.." that was quite the inconsistent statement and thought process given that the independent power ratings ARE specs.. just not the manufacturer specs.

Honestly, let's everyone reoil our feathers a little here. Saheed is approaching the point in his life when he knows he's right about everything... we were all there.. remember 16-22 years of age? He spouts off as if God himself is providing the content. If that is a given, then you don't need to point it out all the time or get ruffled when it happens...just expect it. We know things about Dr. Spec and Mantis and everyone else.. you no doubt know that my posts tend to be lengthy (although captivating) and I believe the law of diminshing returns kicks in early in audio.

I won't woman's-magazine you and say "let us all rejoice in our differences." But I do suggest we trust what we've learned about each other, accept or ignore each others' idiosyncracies, gleen the good and don't waste your time on what you consider worthless. *Trust people to be who they are* and you face much lower stress.... just as you trust me to be the voice of reason, compassion and tolerance ....

Actually my sig is currently incorrect. Right now it's 4 watt speakers and 120/ch receiver. At the time I was using a Soundcraftsman amp connected to my receiver pre-outs. Speakers are 4" RS full-range in a transmission-line enclosure. Periscopes.

Yep that's them. They play loud enough for my wife to tell me to turn it down. I'm thinking about getting a pair of hamsters (no gerbils here) to power these things. They can rock & roll, do most classical (big overtures need a bit more excursion and air than these provide), but they really excel at intrumental jazz and vocals. Live recordings sound great. They can give a 3D image better than my other 6 mains (of various brand). Prior to this I had dual fronts (speakers stacked with the top pair upside down). It sounds better for most of the music I listen to; and good enough for the rest, and the wife is much happier.

I'm glad to see your sig thread has made it to like 4 pages. It's been derailed almost as often as you change it. :)
