Anyone remember the early days of CP when you had to have a model with serial number to gain access to the boards? Any way to retrieve that early info? I looked through my profile, but couldn't find a thing. I just bought a pair of SDA 1C's that I was planning to use for parts but I think these are the ones I sold years ago. Don't really want to bust them up now for nostalgia reasons.

My count may be low but looks like I signed up at the same time George did. I strayed to Klipsch and motorcycles but have returned.

7.2001 was when the forum moved to it's current format. The 'Club' and guys like George were around LONG before that.

    Cheers,

I guess when the forum moved to the newer version, the join dates all became the same for older members... BTW, there is a page where Polk lists all the products that have been manufactured...

Edit: When I joined, I had to enter the model number of my AMR70's...

Not all models are on that list, and it bothers me sometimes when I am looking for something.

What sucks is I could have joined in 2000 when I got my RT55i's and a few other polk speakers but I didn't do it..

    Yes:

Support, Register, email address + password should lead you to your gear (considering you originally registered your gear)

I logged in for the first time (after submitting my speaker serial #'s and being cleared in) in September '99. Flason, MY post count is low compared to some of the absolute blowhards we have here.

That registration was more of a warrantee issue. Back in "the day" to be a member of this forum you had to have a legit serial number just to post anything. I'm guessing I registered before the July 2001 that shows in my signature block. Oh well, not a biggie. The 1C's sound great and now I'm regretting the decision to snag the 6511's out for my 2.3's but it must be done.

Yep. That was me. But I still remember good folks like you, George and does anyone remember Tyrone Thompson. He sent me a pin\blade cable for next to nothing. The Scott Triggs on here are few and far between. Thank goodness!

I "thought" a serial number was required when I joined 8 years ago. Maybe it was asked for...but not an absolute requirement.

SN was a required validation to create an account back then. I thought it is still a great idea to keep spammers away.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I think so. He sold me an original IC for like $10 delivered. I had his e-mail to just a few years ago. I wonder what he's up to?

You had to enter a number but at the time I thought you could enter anything and proceed.

It doesn't deter spam as much as you think it does AND even when you use the spam blocker add-ons available for vBulletin, they eventually get hacked.

I've talked to Patrick about this extensively and since he actually runs this homepage, knows FAR more than any user on this board when it comes to THIS homepage, trending and what works and doesn't work....why don't we let him handle the web side.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I joined after speaker to a buddy of mine because I had just won and ebay auction on my 1.2TLs. We were talking about the SDA/SRSs I owned back in '84/'85 and he told me about Club Polk . I joined in July 2006 without having to put in a S/N. I picked up the speakers in August and received Raife 2nd edition compendium the same day.

I was originally in the impression that you needed to register some legit Polk products in order to be able to use CP. The main reason I believed that was when I registered some products in 2007 I was electronically invited to joint the forum. I did not do so at the time but the same invitation occured when I registred some more products in 2008.

If Polk really wanted, they could surely use that to limit CP to Polk owners. Doro also right to mention we should let Patrick rule Polk site. When thin king about it, having to deal with a few spamming problems is far from being that bad when you consider the exposure Polk gets through this site. When people are seriously shopping speaker by brands they'll often get Polk's CS inputs along with the advice of the gurus and other members of this board and who knows, that might make the difference between buying Polk versus other brands which may be just as good but doesn't provide this forum addition.

This is good marketting for Polk. The extra steps forward done by Polk for their members is the main reason we agree that we are provided with outstanding customer service. As far as I am concerned, this has just as much weight as the quality of the product it self when it comes to my decision to make Polk my main speaker provider.

    Cheers!
