JayCee, he's actually going to be playing in Yakima, Washington at a 8000 seat mini dome complex. He must have pissed someone off or lost a bet for this gig. :p;)

the local chamber of commerce said on it's billboard... "Elton John in coming... no really, this is not a joke" ha ha ha.

How funny. We were shocked when he played Pullman and kind of wondered why there?! WSU was able to get him in support of a woman's awareness program they were celebrating. As I recall, he sold out his original night and added a second show. I waited too long to get tickets and ended up in the nose bleed section of the sports arena. I wonder if he has friends on your side of the Cascades? If you're into wine, make a vineyard hopping/wine tasting trip out of it and hook around the tri-cities.

My wife and I left Spokane about a year and a half ago and really miss it. How's downtown and the arts district doing w/the economy tanking? From what I've seen, it looks like the Fox Theater has been a big success. The restoration was awesome. I've seen some great concerts in the Knitting Factory, Spokane Opera/Arena and Bing Crosby Theater. Our next 2 concerts are Jimmy Buffett in May followed by Jackson Browne w/David Lindley in August.:D

Sir Elton is a legend and doesn't disappoint. Have a great time at the concert and let us know how it went.

My wife and I saw him last week here in Austin.. GREAT show!!! and it really was a greatest hits show. played i think 99% of the favorites. I never realized how talented a piano player he really was until that show since it was the first time i saw him. He went off on a Jam during Rocket Man that was just incredible. enjoy the show

this will be the second time i've seen EJ... first time was about 7 or 8 year ago. I've seen his play list for this tour.. and while good.. it seemed a little short to me... about 20 songs total. There are some songs he just won't play anymore.. like Hey, Hey Johnny. and one of my favorites from his The One CD called The Last Song.

but it will be a great show anyway.. and i am thrilled to see him again so close to home.

    John,

Spokane like most all other cities was hit by the downturn in the economy... but because we don't rely on any one type of industry.. I have heard from some locals that the blow to Spokane and the surrounding area was a bit less harsh than what other places saw. Still the impact was felt, and plenty jobs were lost and businesses went out of business though.

The downtown area is slowly becoming a arts and entertainment area. THe cool thing about it's downtown, is that it's very small and compressed. Whether you see an event at the Spokane arena or the Knitting Factory or INB performing arts center.. they are all within very easy walking distance. usually you have to walk through Riverfront part to get from the North side of downtown to the South side, but that's a easy and beautiful walk. (Don't forget to see the huge Radio Flyer red wagon). ;)
