Hello....

As y'all could tell i'm new to the forum.:)
However i'm in a quandary newegg has a good sale going until sunday. basically i'm trying to understand the difference between the CS2 and CS20 center speakers. specs seems to be the same expect for the watts CS2 20-175/ CS20 20-150. Frequency Response CS2 55Hz - 25kHz/CS20 48-25kHz.
Oh and the price CS2 $100 and CS20 $200.

I dug a bit and i did find the the CS20 on polk site but can't see why it would be twice as much as the CS2
any info would be greatly appreciated. i'm trying to get in on this sale so please advise.:D

Regards

They're essentially the same. The CS2 is part of the Monitor line...which was replaced by the TSi series. The CS20 is just the TSi equivalent of the Monitor series CS2.

Aside from aesthetics differences, they're essentially the same.

Yes, it would be a great match.

Any of the Monitor and TSi series speakers will match well with each other though, for the most part.

    WELCOME TO CLUB POLK!!

A cheap option is the PSW505 if you're going to go with the M-series and CS2.

A good Polk HT...not the best but good at $250.

What you should be aware of is that the price for the M70s and CS2 is not 'normal'--all those speakers are being sold as closeouts for about half price or less. The original price for M70s was over 900 dollars a pair and they usually sold for the same price as a pair of TSI-500s (800 dollars a pair). The CS2 was a 300 dollar center, and M30s 200 a pair, and M40s 300 dollars a pair. So the TSI are actually the fair price for Ms as well. But the Ms are being discontinued and the TSIs have replaced them.

So, in a sense, M prices do not reflect their value..they are unrealistic!

Now i'm getting a grasp of why the speakers are so inexpensive at newegg. I'm currently trying to upgrade from my current setup(upgrade bug:rolleyes:)

But i'm thinking is it worth it to save and get the TSi series or jump on the current deals to be had.

The differences between the Monitor and TSi series are very small. Given that, and the fact that the Monitor's can be had for dirt cheap right now, I'd definitely go for the Monitors. The TSi's wouldn't really be a significant step up, especially given the extra cost.

FWIW, I MUCH prefer the aesthetics of the TSi series, but that's all opinion.

I completely agree with Curt here. The TSi's look a lot nicer than the Monitors, but you can get a pair of M70's for $340 new on Newegg and that IS a steal! I have the 70's and 60's and the 70's are definitely better and by what everyone says, they sound even better when given more power.

All the advice above is good advice. IMHO, for what the Monitors are going for these days, you will be hard pressed to find a better speaker for the money. Having said that, the TSi's and Monitor's don't always play well together. I have a pair of TSi 500's that I run as surrounds, and the reason they are back there is because they sounded terrible with my CS2, which was the timbre match for my Monitor 70's, YMMV though. I will have to agree that the asthetics of the TSi line is very good, while the Monitors are a bit more laid back, IMHO though, the Monitors are the way to go. Welcome to Club Polk.

I agree with the sub advice given, also, if your house is on a crawl space with that wood floor I would recommend staying away from a "down-firing" sub as you would be sorely disappointed. Welcome to CP!

Maybe i should have stated i live in a high rise so the sub floor is concrete.

in this case would the down firing sub be an issue.
