CS10 Hertz setting for receiver

HI, i have an onkyo tx-sr 705 receiver a polk cs10 center channel and recently purchased 2 polk rti 10 fronts. However now im finding out that the fronts sound bright for highs and the center sounds mellow and the voices on movies dont seem to have the right sound. My receiver has hertz settings from full band,40,50,60,70,80,90,100,120,150, and 200 hertz, i looked at the hertz setting on polks website but they only give a khz setting so my question is what hertz setting should i have this speaker set at to give it some decent sound? I will be replacing it with the csi5 when i get around to ordering one!

Set it to 80Hz. As far as the fronts sounding bright, have you run Audyssey? If not, get yourself a tripod to mount the mic on and do the full 8 positions of Audyssey. You can find more information on properly setting up your 705 here.

The RTi series is pretty bright in general, especially when compared to the Monitor series. The RTi10's are the brightest of the bunch too.

Yah ive ran audyssey and it did help, the sub is a boston acoustics sub ill be upgrading that with an svs or velodyne i havent decided yet. As far as the center channel 80 hertz works for it, and as i go louder it seems to get better, thanks so much for your help! Oh and btw audyssey set my fronts (which are passively bi-amped from the receiver) to full band when playing movies i found it alright but music was horrible so i came to the conclusion to set it at 50 hertz with the treble at plus 4 and bass at a plus 6 on the receiver, the fronts seem to have a little extra bump now and i think they sound excellent. Any opinions on this set-up? Thanks for the input!

Audyssey on the 705 always sets any speaker that can go below 80Hz as "full range", which was an issue with Onkyo's implementation of it. Believe it or not, I think you should set your RTi10s to at least 60Hz to give them a smooth transition to the subwoofer before they hit their -3dB point. But ideally, I would set them to 80Hz for one very important reason: Audyssey MultEQ XT does far more precise equalization on the sub than it does on the other channels, so if you offload more of the bass to the subwoofer, you're:
1) Taking the power requirements off of the 705's amp section and letting the sub handle the power for the bass, which should give you cleaner mids and highs at higher levels.
2) Giving the amp section more headroom to work with for transient bursts of sound (i.e. you won't reach the point of distortion as quickly).
3) Getting most of your bass from the channel with the smoothest equalized response.
