Phono inputs on new Marantz reciever?

My tt works fine on my old Yamaha reciever. I cannot get it to work with new Marantz? There are no phono inputs,but I thought I could use the auxilary spots? Do I need a phono preamp? thanks,Darryl

    You'll need an external phono preamp to connect to the aux inputs on your Marantz.

    These can be found for less than $100 or as much as $1000 (or more) - let your wallet decide what you can afford....welcome to the upgrade club! :D

    H9: If you don't trust what you are hearing, then maybe you need to be less invested in a hobby which all the pleasure comes from listening to music.

    Aux Inputs are designed for 1 volt line level input. Output from a cartridge (MM) is 3-5 millivolts (MC even lower). In addition to the amplicfication that is required an equilization curve to match the RIAA standard is needed to be included in the preamp. At the Axpona Show I saw a nice new unit offered by NERVE AUDIO for about $100. Google their name and check it out.
