I'm going to Milwaukee next weekend (the 25th.) and looking for a good bar to go to in downtown. Any suggestions? Haven't been there in a few years. Pretty much the only thing I remember is Real Chili.

Mo's Irish Pub great bar and food. Also depends on the age of the crowd.
There's plenty of hot spots with 5 or 6 bars within a block or two. Most people around there bar hop.
A great area is on
Water St. Between State and Knapp.
Milwaukee Ave between Wisconsin and state.
3rd st around by the Bradley Center. -
The best place to be in Wisconsin is on I-94 westbound... The closer you get to the Minnesota border, the better!!!:D:D;):pThe Gear... Depending on what you are up for La Perla can be pretty good on the right night. Otherwise I hear that Ryan Braun of the Brewers just opened up a new restaurant...
If you somehow end up by the UWM campus... do yourself a favor and hit up Oakland Gyros! -

agreed with Mo's good place.
and it also depends on what your looking for. When in school and I would go visit there we often went down to Cann's as well as Live ect.
One cool bar is I think its called Luciles (spelling?) its a piano bar and the night I went had two baby grands back to back and was a really good show. Thats more right down town from what I can remember. -
We are staying at 6th and Walnut I think we are just going to bar hop our way downtown unless we find someplace we should set up shop at. If there's good food and drink to be had we will find it. But it definitely seems like that won't be a problem at all. We get in Saturday then Sunday we are going to Wrigley North:eek: for the game. After the game we are going to The Comet Cafe. It's been on Diners Drive Inns and Dives on the Food Network and I think the only reason we are going is because the have free bacon on Sunday's!Panny 55-st30 plasma

I used to live pretty much right across the street from Comet for 3 years. Be sure you wear your protective anti-hipster suit when you go in. Great food, though, and lots of bacon.
I second grimmace's recommendation of Oakland Gyros. By far the best gyro joint I have ever been to. I make it a point to go down there just to get a gyro every once in a while.
I'd also suggest going to Kopp's on Port Washington road. They have the best burgers and the custard is great, too.
If you want fine dining, check out Palermo Villa at 2315 North Murray Avenue. Their pasta dishes are out of this world (I recommend the Fettucini Palermo).
Sprecher Brewery tour is fun, too. -

I like Mo's and Lucilles. Lucilles can be a real hoot on a good night.

I checked out Mo's and Lucille's websites and they seem pretty cool and are right by the hotel we are going to be at.
Thanks for all the suggestions I will definitely report back on what should be a good time.Panny 55-st30 plasma

Definitely had an awesome time in Milwaukee this weekend. Saturday night we started at the bar in the Hilton downtown to meet up with some friends. Then we were going to go to Lucille's but the place was packed with a line and it was 1 out 1 in. So we went to the Brat House which was very cool drank a bunch of different good beers. After a couple hours there we went to the New Yorker on the advice of our bartender at the Hilton. It was a total dive bar and right up our alley.
Sunday we hit up Miller Park for the Cubs game. It's no Wrigley in July but it was pretty damn cool. After the game we went back to the Hotel for a quick nap then to the Comet Cafe. Demiurge you were right about the hipsters but was nothing I wasn't used to. The food was awesome and the staff was very friendly.
It was an awesome time and are planning doing pretty much the same trip again in September.Panny 55-st30 plasma
