Definitely 1C studio version. Too bad the person who has them has never heard them properly. Not close enough to the back wall, too close to the sides, and toed in. All the big 3 no-nos for SDA speaker setup. If you go to audition them, keep that in mind.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

good point, if you are there to check them out before buying, just confirm each driver is working and load them up. No need to explain to the previous owner they are set up totally wrong for good SDA music reproduction. Last thing you need is for the owner to back out after you fixing his errors!

I was hoping they were 1C's with the 6511 drivers so I could use them for my 2.3's. Picking them up for $225. Then I'll buy the Polk replacements for these and give them to my GF to replace the RS Mach 1's. Gotta give props to the mach's though. A very underated speaker, I think.

I haven't seen them yet. Going around 6pm tonight. Will make sure all drivers are working and tweeters are good. Not too concerned about the poly switches since I was successful at changing them in my 2.3's. Then I'll replace the drivers in the 1C's with the Polk replacements and have 2 really nice sets of SDA speakers. Will also have to order another cable from Ben.

Are you sure these have 6511's, not all 1C's do. The very early ones don't.

Not really sure about them. But either way, for $225 in good condition, they're a good deal.

Haven't opened them up yet but all but one tweeter sounds good. I guess they are the studio version and seem to be covered in vinyl. At least the bottom where it's slightly loose is vinyl. At low volumes the "bad" tweeter is OK, but when you crank it, it starts to get raspy. Poly switches are good. No tweet drop out at any volume. Heading out on the motorcycle now but when I get back, I will remove and inspect the drivers.
